You think the games we win would reflect good things, but they don't.

It’s a fair mixture I think.

If you paid attention to the pitching matchup, you wouldn’t have been surprised.  This did not favor the Sox.

Rigersis a good pitcher.  May gave the team a shot, but the pen put it out of reach.

Nicely put.

Hicks should be better with his stuff but he really sucks. He can't hit his spots. A guy like Jamie Moyer threw 80 mph and got guys out by pitching. Hicks is a thrower who has no clue.

As the game was slipping away I was actually hoping they would continue to pile on runs against Hicks so Cora will bury him where he belongs, at the end of the bullpen rotation.

Going from a big market team to a mid market team does have its consequences.

We are over the tax line, despite dumping Devers. Yes, we are still around 10-12, so that is "mid," but I'm wondering if JH goes all-in, this winter. (I'm not expecting it.)

How they approach this winter might be impacted by whether they make the playoffs this year or not.

Maybe.

The urgent order of business is getting Bregman to come back, even if on a 4 year deal. With Mayer's health in constant flux, we have nothing else for 3B.

I think we will let 1B and 2B slide, again. I'm not happy about it, but they will probably think we have enough to work with:

1B: Casas, Lowe, Romy/Toro, Campbell and now JH Garcia playing 1B w Woo.

2B: Mayer, Romy, DHam, Grissom with Mayer or Arias pushing Story to 2B, someday.

By "going all in," one choice could be to bring Bragman & Chapman back while adding Alonso & a trade for a SP'er like Ryan.

The Gio triggered option is probably the second key, along with hos all our injured pitchers are progressing. Knowing Brez & Co, they will put too much faith in these post-rehab pitchers.

I'm still glad I missed out. We were fortunate others lost, too, but it was also an opportunity lost.

It shows just how much the AL lacks a break-away team.

Cleveland and KC both won, so they moved up on us

If the season ended last night we'd be tied with NYY and SEA for the Wild Card spots, and 3 clear of CLE.

Not really.

I guess "fair" is subjective. I see both positive and negative comments on every game thread and I think they are balanced given the fact that its human nature to want to complain more than complement.

Being "human nature" hardly makes more criticism "fair," but yes, that is subjective.

I get the heat of the moment outbursts that are hyperbolic or based on emotions more than logic or true beliefs, but to me, it often gets overwhelmingly critical and negative. At times abusive and absurd.

It's just not for me, or I can only take it in small doses.

I've seen enough negativity for the decades of futility from the early 70's to 2003. I was probably as negative and pessimistic as anyone and everyone else, so I guess I should be more understanding and accepting. It's nothing personal, I just see enough crap going on in the world, right now, that I kinda want the Sox to be a beacon of hope in my life. I like this team. I think they are fun to watch- flaws and all.

I also see the AL as not having any great team, so I'm optimistic that maybe we don't need to be as good as one usually thinks a team needs to be to go to the big dance. This could be the year. The 2013 team was not nearly as good as the 2018, but some crazy sh** can happen. BOSTON STRONG!
