No to Anthony. He is off limits. It is Breslow's JOB to get deals done and he didn't do it. According to what I read he didn't even try real hard.

It's very possible the Twins were insisting on Anthony.  They didn't trade Ryan to anyone, so you can safely assume they were asking for a ton.

This is confusing because I've only been talking about 2025.

The Password is on the 40, so he could still be brought up in case of an outfield injury. From all evals, including old eyeballs, he's at least a better defender than Yoshida.

And now Notin will reply, "So is my golden retriever" and I will counter, "Even my rescue border collie/hound mix that somebody in Arkansas said was half husky, just so dog peeps from Connecticut would adopt him, even though we all know there are no huskies down there. But he catch a lacrosse ball on a bounce."

This is such a cookout answer.

If you don't do something about your Spell Check, something like "cookout answer" could become the new "chocked". 😄

The only thing we know for sure is that Breslow didn't get the job done-the job he was hired to do. Thats the bottom line.

That would suck, but consider this:

We trade Duran and Abreu gets hurt:

LF: Garcia (Yoshida/Refsnyder)

CF: Rafaela

RF: Anthony

Rafaela gets hurt:

LF: Anthony (Yoshida/Refsnyder)

CF: Garcia

RF: Abreu/Refsnyder

I know Jh Garcia is untested, but do you like the above more than this?

We don't trade Duran for Ryan and have this:

Crochet, Giolito, Bello, Sandoval, Harrison (Dobbins & Crawford start season on IL)

not this...

Crochet, Ryan, Giolito, Bello, Sandoval

If one gets hurt, our depth goes one more deep.

Ill take Duran.

Don't know that for sure at all.  Maybe he did exactly what Henry wanted.  Henry is the one who hired him - have you asked him what he wanted?

Spell check doesn’t fix auto corrected substitution, which, as substitutions, are spelled correctly…

There’s a big difference between Breslow’s job and your expectations from Breslow’s job.

I wasn’t thrilled with his deadline results, but I do have a better understanding of them.  Still don’t like Dustin May, however…

Well then opinions are clearly divided on his efforts…

So what makes it think cookout answer is a correct substitution?

Breslows job is to improve the team. He failed to do so. If Henry forced his hand then he should have the integrity to resign.

Breslow has to think about the future too.  You should know that as a guy who wanted to tank not very long ago.

You would need to talk to the author of the software in question…

So now he should quit because he’s didnt have autonomous control?  Does any CBO in the league have that? And how would his resignation help the Sox?

I don’t think this is a reasonable answer , but rather a last ditch grasp at dangling straws to justify your position.  Breslow, like most people, probably prefers to stay employed rather than quitting due to apparent control issues that would prevent him from getting hired anywhere else…

He was hired to improve the team and failed. If he won’t resign he should be fired. Instead of making a choice about being buyers or sellers he again chose to do nothing. Fans deserve better. He needs to go, one way or the other.

Except the team has improved since he took over.  Moves like Crochet and Bregman improved the team significantly.

You're basically a reality denier.

The Sox have not won the A L East since 2018. Now, they are poised to do just that. They are absolutely an improved team.  There should be no argument about that.

He absolutely improved the team.  Improvements need not only take place on July 31st.

And even then, he certainly improved the team in that date.  Just not to the degree you wanted…

Garcia is on the 40. This could have pertained to 2025, as well.

I would too, but to me the choice is

Duran vs Anthony

or

Ryan vs May (or ZBuehler)

I think Durans value goes way above what he does on the field. You can clearly tell he’s loved in the clubhouse and has taken a role as a leader.

Agreed - I shared a girl's post from Facebook the other day where she laid out how much further he goes than other players with fans after the games, too.

If the team won for example 78 games last year and 80 games this year he could be said to have improved the team. But I wouldn’t call that a success.
You either go for it or your sellers. As Yoda says, “do or do not; there is no try”.

Breslow failed.

Yes, to argue he hasn't improved this team would be crazy.

Correct. Not to the degree I wanted. Not after years of last place or mediocre finishes.

Let’s reassess whether he sufficiently improved the team after the regular season is over. He absolutely failed to significantly improve it at the trade deadline. The Flops have a history of failure as the summer moves on. If they manage to hold on to a playoff spot then I’ll agree he improved the team. If they manage to win the AL pennant then I’ll agree that he has sufficiently improved the team.
As of right now the team and their incompetent GM have accomplished zilch.

Thats a false choice.  Trading Duran, the locker room goes to crap, you lose that spark.

We dont HAVE to play Masa

May wont be in our playoff rotation

It didnt have to be Ryan or May, my theory is that we were laser focused on Ryan and were left scrambling.  What about the dude on the pirates who wasnt even traded?

I wanna see Tolle!
