There’s more money available if Henry wants to spend it. Middle third in team salary for a big market team isn’t acceptable.

This all started with the unspent Devers savings.  If it goes to (the right) extensions, I’m more than fine with that…

You don’t know that. The medical literature I reviewed FOR THIS INJURY says 6-12 months. Your “slow healer” assumption I presume is based on his rib cage injury. That’s a different injury. Based on medical literature I’d assume he’ll be back around opening day. There’s no rational reason to assume otherwise.

About a year from the date of the injury is realistic. To assume otherwise is awfully…….pessimistic 😬

Not just his rib injury, but also his previous injuries that he had while in the org. Casas doesn't stay healthy and doesn't come back quickly.

Guys who had the same injury:

Edwin Diaz - missed a full year

Dustin Fowler - played in AAA after 9 months

Einar Diaz - never played again

We don't know how Casas will progress. But our best guess should be to take a conservative approach and expect him to need at least 12 months.

Your expectations are not supported by the medical literature, overall. It’s just a baseless opinion-to which you’re entitled.

I am. It aware of any significant injuries he’s had besides the rib and the knee. He had shoulder bursitis in 9/23 but that’s a relatively minor injury.
Any others?

He might not be ready for ML ball by opening day but I’d bet he’ll be ready to get on the field for rehab no later than a year from his date of injury-May 4. That’s what the medical literature tells us.
And if he could slim down my guess is that he could reduce the chances of future injuries.

We'll see! A regular person coming back from the injury is much different than a large human like Casas who needs to generate a lot of power from his lower body. A significant knee injury could be career altering as we've seen with other MLB players.

Those are the facts and the facts are undisputed!

I'm not extending Mayer with that injury record. Anthony is a must.

It depends on the cost for sure!

With Anthony, the cost is going up by the day!

Hopefully part of his rehab is losing weight.

It's probably going to go the wrong way TBH.

Define “around opening day” and I’ll think about it

1st game of the regular season.

I'll accept your wager if we define it as being ready to get on the baseball field, at the very least for a rehab assignment a year from his injury, May 4. I could also live with him getting on a baseball field by opening day 2026 whenever that is, though its slightly less than a year.

We would donate the $100 to our favorite charity. You win and I donate it to your favorite charity; I win and you donate $100 to my favorite charity.

Deal?

I know. But the team has good medical personnel (sometimes) and expecting the worst possible case scenario isn't where I am at. I expect he will follow the course of most people with his injury.

Like you said, we'll see.

MassLive believes Matz will simply replace Bernardino for now. Apparently Bernardino is overtaxed and needs a break.

Matz has pitched well against the lefties but this move seems like a side way deal. It's hard for me to get excited about. Typical Red Sox GM move.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, THE REAL MAN is improving his playoff bound team. Bunch of Ivy League sissies in Sox organization. Get me a man.

Jacob Wilson broke his hand. They should send Anthony down before he gets hot enough to win Rookie of the Year. If not, the Sox lose another year of control...

... which only means the billionaire might have to pay Roman market value sooner.

In the meantime, they might win more.

Well, we sent Ryan Kalish to AAA and he ruined his career by getting injured there! If only they kept him in BOS! Maybe just have Roman hang out with Wally behind the Monster?
