I think Ive been the most optimistic talksoxer over the past month, and I certainly like where the Sox are right now, especially the hitting and the fact that Bregman is due back soon which will improve both the hitting and the defense. 

It's even possible an almost decent rotation of Crochet, Bello, Giolito, Buehler, and Fitts is emerging with maybe Dobbins and/or Houck to be available. 

Nevertheless, still two worries:  1) the bullpen and 2) the schedule from July 10 thru Aug 13--

Rays, 49-41, 4 games

@Cubs, 54-36, 3 games

@Phillies, 53-37, 3 games

Dodgers, 56-35, 3 games,

@ Twins, 43-47, 3 games, ends July 30, day before mid season trading ends

Astros, 55-35, 3 games

Royals, 43-48, 3 games

@San Diego, 48-41, 3 games

@ Astros, 55-35, 3 games

Gomber has been one of the worst pitchers in MLB since 2023 (7th worst fWAR for qualified starters, 5th worst ERA, 2nd highest HR/9). Rockies may sneak out a win in one of these games, but I don't know if it's this one.

It would advance the cause to get to 4 games over vis another sweep before taking on the Rays and moving to A-S game.     While it is an honor for Crochet and Chapman , I would be happier if they do not pitch in that game. 

Let's see if the hitters can stay active at Fenway tonight.   Need to get Fitts the backing for a win

Anthony is turning out to be the hitter as advertised.  He is now whacking LH'ers as well as RH'ers.

Not to be overlooked, even if it is the Rockies, that Fitts put up 5.2 innings with no earned run and only 1 unearned, thanks to the inevitable error.   Reminds me that AC better ask Trevor Story if he would mind going back to 2B and let Mayer work at SS.  Story's arm is not  strong.

This is a win to now lock down.
