His K% went from 32 to 26 to under 19. His BB% went from 2.9 from 23-24 to 4.6 this year.

This cannot be all about pitchers not having “the book” on him yet.

No, but pitchers do make adjustments to adjustments and I'd be interested to see how he continues to progress.  I love Rafaela, and he's certainly exceeding expectations to date and I love what he's doing but the approach is still concerning.  It doesn't mean he can't keep up what he's doing, it's just rare that someone with his profile can, but maybe he's that rare guy that will.

Improving his BB% is exciting, but 4.6% is still very low.  I think he has the 12th lowest BB% in the majors.  Which again, is an improvement from the worse, but still bad.

Don't mistaken my critique here, he's on pace for to have over a 5 Fwar season, if he can do that he's worth every penny and more.

Hey glad we are winning and all for sure but cannot and likely will not understand not playing Mayer regardless of who is pitching and whether they are throwing with the right or left arm.

I understand the feeling that he will slump again. That’s another comp with JBJ that fits. he’s been over .700 a few times in his career but seems to regress shortly afterward as a norm.

it getting kinda late in the season, and this warm streak has lasted pretty long.

its hard to know if he can keep this up. We fo know your pessimism extends beyond Rafaela, which is okay. It’s often turned out that your pessimism was actually reality, so who am I to say you will be proven wrong?

I have serious doubts too.

Cora does not shy away from platoons. He still refuses to give Abreu a legitimate chance vs lefties, and he’s been around a lot longer than Mayer.

im not defending Cora on this. I want Mayer over Eaton, too.

when Bregman returns, I hope Mayer plays 2B/SS full time. Our only two platoons would be Abreu-Anthony in RF with Anthony -Refsnyder at DH and the Toro-Romy 1B platoon.

wait till they call up Yoshida! All hell May break loose, unless an OFer trade coincides with the call up.
