What to expect from Walker Buehler tonight against Seattle, he has been poor, his control wasn't very good. Could this start be an important one for him? The Red Sox signed him for one year and we are a little short on time before the trade deadline.

And Happy Birthday to Sox legends Aaron Robinson, Marty Barrett, Dusty Cooke and Bill Harris.

Dusty puts together good play lists of Seventies Rock on pay radio (for those not flippant through the channels).

Buehler

3/29-4/9 9.1 IP, 8.68 ERA, 6.39 FIP, 6.92 k/9, 0.99 bb/9, 1.61 WHIP

4/10-5/25 31.2 IP, 2.56 ERA, 3.89 FIP, 8.36 k/9, 3.46 bb/9, 1.18 WHIP

5/26-6/17 18 IP, 10.50 ERA, 7.35 FIP, 8.50 k/9, 4.5 bb/9, 2.22 WHIP

He had a nice little stretch in April and May, but he's been dreadful since Memorial Day. Batters are just teeing off on him. He may get a reprieve tonight as LAA are 24th in wRC+.

LAA is the second worst fielding team in MLB, just ahead of the Nats per FRV (25th in fielding percentage).

If he played 70 years later, he would have sold thousands of shirseys.

Wait, I actually have to watch this game on TV? I can't just walk to the ballpark anymore. Being home sucks :(

Story

.784 ops in June

.432 ops in May

.757 ops in April

I will shut up. He is playing his best.

He is12/12 in AL ops at .633 though. May really hurt him.

Ralaela

.682 April OPS

.698 May OPS

.920 June OPS

.719 cumulative OPS is 6/8 in AL. With his defense, he is doing great lately.

Duran has become very average

Cumulative OPS .714. He is 8/9 of qualified center fielders in AL.

.759 April OPS

.697 May OPS

.653 June OPS

Steadily going down.

Going with youth....

Anthony-LF

Mayer-SS

Narvaez-C

Rafaela-CF

Abreu-RF

Veteran keepers, Bregman-3B

I'm over Duran. Having moved out of lead off bat, he has become 'pedestrian'.

Need 1B and 2B. Rotate in above 6 at DH.

Might as well bring up Grissom and Password.

MLB team fielding percentages range from 99% to 98%.  Player by player DWAR's are a better gauge.

As you say, the problem tonight, other than a late start, is Buehler.  Dobbins is on the IL and  Fitts is starting Wednesday..

I don’t care about fielding percentages. Prior to a few weeks ago, I would have never posted it. I just know we have a poster or two who are stuck on it.

I will be watching avidly tonight, hopefully with not too much commentary.

Too late for me to watch the whole thing unless a no hitter is going.

To win it seems obvious the hitters must s7core runs.  Just three righty bats--Story, Rafaela, and Wong.

Batting order;; Duran, Toro, Anthony (DH), Story, Abreu, Rafaela, Mayer, Wong, and Hamilton.  76 degrees.

Trout at DH for LA.   Their lineup has 3 hitters under .600 and none over .800.

OK I'll bite.  What does 6/8 or 12/12 mean in this context?  I have no clue.

Sorry, it's only for 'qualified' players. We don't get to 15 because a team may have multiple players playing that position or especially in the catching category, it's hard for one catcher to play enough games to 'qualify'.

So in Rafaela's case, only 8 players in AL out of 15 teams 'qualify' in center field. (enough AB or probably plate appearance).

That's a good start.

Btw, I wonder what Duran's OBP is in the 1st innings of games.?

.313 before tonight.
