How soon until encarnacion is promoted. This is already his second tour in Salem.

He played in about 130 games in his first 3 farm seasons. He's 20.

I think he will be.

20 is pretty young, though, but I agree. Let's see what he can do at the next level.

They also just promoted Anderson, who needs bats to go around with Arias, Zanetello, and Alcantara.

he’s got power, but his swing produces very little lift.  I’m sure he’s going to have plenty of doubles in the gap but until he learns to add some loft he’s never going to be able to tap into his power.

he had a home run last that looked like an infielder could have jumped up and caught jt

Early looked really good today!  Best I have seen him throw in a while. Pitches were sharp and except for a little bit of wildness, generally around the strike zone!!!!

WOW!

Cespedes ended up 3-4. Is he finally becoming what we hoped for?

Maybe, his at bats looks better in the lead off spit.
It looks to me like he still struggles with breaking balls and off speed stuff!

Finally? I mean he's only 19.  He still cooking.

If he's leading off that means they think highly off him and want to get him more at bats.  Actually, you can pretty much just look at the top 4-5 guys in any line up and think "there, those are the guys they really like".

He started off slowly, this year and dropped in SP's rankings, even as some above him were traded or graduated.

You can't go by rankings as they can be fluid, and as the guys on soxprospects have said on their podcast when they talk about their rankings; often times it's about guys jumping ahead of someone and NOT that person dropping.  Those are actually two separate things.

I'm not sure they said that specifically about him, but from what I can recall that feels about right. I don't think anything has ever changed with him since they started hyping him up other than he's almost certainly not viewed as someone who could stick at SS.  At the very least a lot of those guys just leapfrogged him because their values went up.

He feels like a 2B, with little position flexibility. If he gets his numbers up. He would have serious value on the trade market. Plus we have a lot of middle infield depth

It certainly feels like someone from the Arias/Romero/Cespedes might go at the deadline.  Middle of the draft also has a lot of IF talent this year.

I really like shortstop Steele hall in the first round. Super young, super fast (causes mass chaos on the base pads), contact hitter with some power, solid to above average defense!!      I guess my draft preference is similar to hang’em Chaim.

Every year someone falls to the Sox, Steele hall is right in that range of being mocked just a few spots above where the Sox pick.

There's actually a lot of SS talent in that 6-14 range before the Sox pick.  Someone will fall.

I agree 100 percent. I was shocked teel fell to us. I was also shocked Montgomery fell to us. But just because we have a lot of middle infielders. I would not change from a best player available regardless of position approach.

I get that, and he's been hurt. Good points.

This is his 4th season on the farm, and he barely has 400 PAs. Other players get hurt and fall in the rankings, and he's only gone from 7th to  9th or 10th. Others have improved, yes, and by more than he has, but Teel and Montgomery were traded and Bleis fell below him. Romero has been hurt, too, and he passed Cespedes.

When he has played, he has hit, so maybe my statement was harsh and misplaced. He turns 20 in SEP and is at Salem. Let's see if he can get promoted to GRE, this year or by the start of '26.

It’s his 3rd season, and his first season was in the DSL at 17.

he started last year in the FCL, even if he didn’t get hurt this would be his first year in full season affiliate ball.

I've consistently ranked him higher than SPs and others on this site.

I just got the sense he was slipping in some people's minds. Not having a defined position hurts.

POR split a doubleheader. Any more rainouts and they may need to start playing tripleheaders.

GRE was up 9-2 into the ninth and McShane finally had a bad game, letting up 6 ERs. YRod is 1-2 w 3BB, Zanetello 1-3 w 2BB and Ehrhard is 2-4. Lugo hit a dinger. It's tied 9-9, now.

SAL lost 2-1 and the FCL Sox won their first game and are now 1-7.
