Garcia is really hitting the ball well so far!!! Wow!!!! Great at bats today

I'm wondering when he'll be promoted to AAA. (Maybe when Anthony moves to MLB.)

I'd like to see Romero & Early in AAA, too.

Maybe YRod & Mullins to AA and Arias to A+.

I watched early pitch a few innings and it looks like the velocity is up a tiny bit over last year!!!  The stuff is ok! Nothing that grabs your attention though!!!!

we appear to have an unending supply of mediocre 22-24 year olds starting pitchers at Salem!!!  Except for Clarke, none of them have great stuff. And Clarke struggles mightily with command and control.

They are young, so improvement is possible, including significant upticks in velo.

I would like to see us with more nationally ranked pitching prospects, but we have a large base of pitchers showing varying levels of promise. I'm hopeful a handful improve enough to open some eyes.

Hell, even a guy like Mata might surprise us.

Unfortunately I think ray Charles could be a more consistent strike thrower than mata

I mean, Blake Aita, Luis Cohen, and Austin Ehrlicher are all 21, although to be fair I think they will all be 22 in a few months from now.

Aita has great stuff, might end up in a high leverage role in the bullpen if he can't develop another pitch and put it all together.  Brady Tygart has some intriguing stuff as well.

I think there's a log jam holding up pitching promotions right now.  That may be partially relieved once guys like Giolito/Bello get back up to the majors.  A few of those guys probably could be moved up to Greenville right now.

Then they'd be 21-22 year olds in high A.

I don't disagree, but there are cases where high BB pitchers end up fixing the issue, sometimes later in life. This year, he has 17 Ks and 4 BB in 10.2 IP.

Garcia will be down there until MiLB All Star game at least. No rush on him.

If Early has added a few mphs to the fastball, then he becomes very interesting - because he clearly knows how to pitch.  The results matter ultimately.

Of course we are in super high variability land, but Valera at Greenville already is as exciting a pitching development as this franchise has had in several minutes.

Valera has some really good stuff. Command and control will determine how far he goes!

We almost had a full system sweep, tonight, but GRE lost 1-0.

Woo won 5-0. Criswell looked awesome: 8Ks and 0 BB in a 2 hit 5 shutout inning start. Grandal and Mayer homered. Mayer and Anthony both doubled and went 2-4

POR scored 5 in the 8th to win 9-8. Monegro struggled, but the O had 10 hits and 6 walks. Jh Garcia 2-5.

GRE lost 1-0 and managed just 3 hits.

SAL won 12-6, Brooks went 5 one hit innings (4K/3BB) Encarnacion continued his hot hitting with two 2Bs (up to .820) and Anderson added one, himself (.888). Arias 0-4 w BB (.818.)

Garcia still mashing the ball at Portland.

I've been high on the Garica brother for a while. Jh can really hit.

Woo won both games and is now 13-9.

POR won 5-1 ans now 9-6. Wehunt pitched 5, allowing 4H, 1ER, 1BB and K'd 3. Romero triples and Jh Garica had 2 hits.

GRE is tied 3-3, as Dean went 4 (2H, 0ER, 2BB, 6K) Carlson (2.1: 3H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K)

SAL is tied 0-0 through 7. Clarke (3.1, 0H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K) Is this guy for real? Sprague (3.2, 3H, 0ER, 0BB & 5K) Arias has one of the two team hits- a double.

Dobbins went 6 IP- allowing 4H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K in a 14-1 win. Woo had 13 hits and 7 BB, led by... Anthony and Eaton with 2 hits, including dingers and a BB. Rosier also homered and is at 1.065 in a small sample size.

POR won 4-3

Mullins pitched great for GRE.

I think about the Roman Empire every day.  Love the name of the latest soxprospects podcast, diving in deep now.  Farm in general is looking great this year with guys looking to step up into the top 10 and make you still feel great about the system after the top 3 leave.

I agree, and while after the top 3 may look a bit sketchy, we have so many promising prospects, including pitchers, some are bound to jump up, this year. Some are off to good starts- others may jump, later in the season. (Others will not.)

Sandlin is not a starter. Overhyped IMO. Early, Dobbins, Fitts are better prospects. Paez may be a better starter profile too.
