The team sucks. Lets face it. I will admit that they have done better than I thought they would this year. I didn't have them with a winning record at this point in the season. That said, how many years has it been since they made the playoffs? Henry is trying to do it on the cheap. He needs to sell the team. He's obviously not committed to winning.

I'm not a betting man, but I'd bet there's nothing worse for baseball bettors than bullpens blowing a game (unless, you're a reliever who bet against yourself...).

 

For fans and players, losing a late lead and ultimately the game is the absolute worst. When your club gets blown out early instead, it's easier to accept that it's just not our night.

 

But when your offense mounts a comeback, and pitchers and fielders hold the line, it gives us hope. And when one or two relievers then cough it up -- right at the end -- they take all that hope and spit it back in our faces.

 

Happens to every team, a couple times a season. But three or four times in a month? Nothing in baseball is more revolting, disgusting, depressing and remote crushing. The frequency of disaster confirms it's no fluke, and we all know last night won't be the last time we have to regurgitate this agita. It's just not our year.

Maybe some teams will DFA relievers the SOX can sweep up. No team Hoovers up DFA's more than the SOX FO.

 

There have been relievers DFA'd over the past few days. Sox haven't made any moves.

Hard for me to blame Cora. Rafaela needed to make a better throw, but Romy probably could have fielded the ball better. Winckowski only needed to get one out and not put the ball on a tee. Of course he just gave it up. Can't pitch Kenley 100 games a year.

Here it is in a nutshell, the position players turned over 7-2 lead , after 7 innings. 6 outs to go. The combined relievers used coughed up 5 runs in regulation, including 2 HR's , forced a 10th inning and promptly gave up 2 more including an HR. 7 runs while accumulating 9 outs, allowing 3 HRs

 

Hamilton made an error allowing a run in the 8th , with 2 outs. Hamilton/Rafaela do not make the 9th inning DP and Wink gives up a 3run, 2 out HR immediately after.

 

Pitching and defense but that is a broken record.
