Valdez picked off, then rolled into a pancake, injuring his wrist. Next man up.

As long as I'm at it, when Devers reaches his 10th day off, would the Sox have been better just calling it an IL stint? Oh yeah, there's no one to call up.

Meidroth, but he'd have to be added to the 40, and DFA'ing Jacques is apparently forbidden,

Nice to see Abreu & Yoshi get over .600 and Casas with a dinger.

McGuire keeps hitting well. Rafaela getting on base twice is nice, and hopefully a sign of a turnaround, but we are hoping for miracles, now.

Huge surprise. Not the pitching of course, even with Criswell starting.

The hitting and errorless ball, those were the surprises.

Also kind of neat was Duran fielding a ball off the green monster and the runner on 1b only getting to 2b.

Sox now over .500 again. Tied with the Rays at 8-7, 1 game ahead of the Jays, 1 game behind the Orioles, and a mile behind the Yankees at 11-3. Sox run differential +11.

Sox looked speedy on the basepaths.

Good win, but absolutely terrible for actual talking on talksox.

We only want to talk after losses, especially ugly losses.

I'm not sure why you get surprised by games like this. Baseball never follows set or predictable trends.

We likely were not as good as the team that went 7-3 or as bad as the team that just lost 4 in a row. There will be ups and downs, all year... maybe more downs than up. Maybe longer downs than ups.

It's not like the Angels are without weaknesses.

The real key will be to win the series with another good effort tomorrow. Get something going before the Guardians arrive . Edited by vegasbob

Good w. Yankees might run away with the division. I just don’t see any consistency with these other teams.

Agreed, although I think the Yanks have enough weak areas to have a bad streak or two, at some point.

It might be better for us, if they kill BAL, TOR and TBR, when face-to-face with them. That being said, it might be very hard for us to finish in 4th place, let alone 3rd or sniff the playoffs, especially without Gio & Story.

Didn't see it, but poor Dalbec must be completely lost. I thought he was having a decent spring, and now goes Daniel Bard on us?

Some of the guys on the Sox like NOshida, and Abreu made their stats look better yesterday against a bad pitcher, but I guess he wasn’t bad enough, because Bobby D didn’t get a hit, and now is 0-16 with 10 K’s. At least he’s making the routine plays at 3B though.

Sogard before Meidroth probably due to Meidroth struggling and only having a few weeks above AA. Maybe Eddy Alvarez or Jamie Westbrook?

4pm Saturday meant most people were probably off doing something else.

What else is there? When you're a Sox fan, you plan your Saturdays--and other days--around when they play. I mean, they only played 162 games in a season.

Today's game is a real test, much like Friday. Anderson, another lefty, is tough. And we have opening day starter, Bello, going for us.

The other score worth keeping is attendance. In 5 home games: 36K, 27K, 26K, 26K, and 31K = 29K average.

I'm impressed you guys still do game day threads.

Much of what goes on here is not about devotion to the team but a form of cathartic psychotherapy. Mostly for older guys with too much time on their hands.

Well I'm on the Bruins chatboard. I used to be on the old Globe canland chatboard that existed in the late 1990s during Jimy time. I was die-hard...and I accentuate was...I can't watch this product anymore, can't accept the way since 2018 (went to game 5 WS clincher...great thrill) the organization just said that's it Sox fans...that's all we can give you. We have to go back to pre-Yaz mediocrity because well we have a soccer team and other things to worry about. I'm old too (still work) and I try to follow the Sox from time to time, but jeez I'll take Verdugo, JD, Renfroe, Sale even over this product. Makes me sick to see that lineup on April 14. sad. I will always enjoy the WS titles, but this is tough to swallow.

Yeah, it sucks. I think this franchise will turn it around but it's gonna take way too long. 2019 was a bad year in John Henry's head. He thought he could trade Betts and go Tampa Bay North and he would thereby prove he was the biggest genius in baseball. He was incredibly wrong.

Speaking of Betts, I watched last night's Dodgers game, and the guy might be better than ever.

Betts is worth the price of admission (expensive) for MLB...does something every game that shows he is a superstar...to think the Sox didn't think he was worth the large contract...incredible....all the money spent on even Story..ugh.

Remember a few posters said his body type does ""not age well?"

How do you like NOshida now? You keep saying you want to see more of Abreu, so outside of making a good catch the other day you must like to watch him kick the ball around in the OF.冷

He, most importantly, is carrying the Burgundy Ballers, my fantasy team.
