I think next season, Montgomery flies through our minor league system. I am a little concerned about the strike out rate, but the power, defense and arm are legit!!
after the big 4, to have Montgomery, arias, cespedes and Garcia!  That is an amazing second wave!

In the make-up game, the Sox scored 6 in the 9th to win 11-4. Campbell went 2-2 and Teel 2-3. They won the short game 8-4, as Priester went 4 IP w 1 ER (4H, 1BB, 7K.) Teel homered and walked twice, Anthony 2-4 (.949) and Grissom 2-3 (.725.) Castro & Jordan 2-4.

POR lost 4-3, but Wikelman did well. 5 IP, 2H, 0ER, 2BB, 7K

It took a while, but Arias is finally starting to hit outside of the FCL.

Montgomery hasn't taken a professional AB yet so we will need to see that first. There was a lot of hype over Zanetello and now he's the 30th ranked propect and falling.

To me, Zanetello should not be top 60, until he starts showing he can hit, and that may be never.

Our "second wave" of prospects might take giant steps forward, next year:

Arias & Valera 18

Cespedes & Jo Garcia 19

Bleis & Romero 20

Jh Garcia & Monegro/E R-C 21

Then, there are the draftees, of whom most were college picks not long-away HS promises.

I'm pumped up over the farm, and we finally have reached the point where we have 4-5 ML ready or very near ML ready top prospects and another 2-3 possible ML ready role player types. Of course, the problem is all are everyday players, and we already have 12-15 useful or better vets fighting for those 13 opening day slots.

If there is not a trade of two to ease the bottlenecks and fill some pitching needs, I will be befuddled.

Not sure anyone would have guessed Kristian Campbell as the riser this year.

Tolle is already ranked 13th, so I don't think he'd rise much higher even if he shoves early on.

Romero could keep climbing the ladder if he stays healthy and mashes.

It'll be interesting to see how Johanfran comes back after his injury and plays in Greenville.

I'm going to stick with my man Monegro and say that he keeps putting it together and turns more people into believers and gets close to the top 10 next season as he heads towards AAA.

Valera also could be the guy who goes from 20ish to top 10 depending on how he looks in full season ball similar to Luis Perales' progression from a few years ago.

For outside the top 30, I'll go with Justin Gonzales as a guy who sneaks into the top 20 next year.

If Anthony remains No. 1, he will become the third Red Sox prospect to rank No. 1 in the now 35-year history of the BA Top 100. Righthander Daisuke Matsuzaka ranked No. 1 in 2007, and outfielder Andrew Benintendi ranked No. 1 in 2017.

Seems like winning seems to follow Anthony where ever he plays in 2024!
hope anthony starts in right field in 2025 snd stays there, at least until Montgomery claims it!!!!!!

Woo won 7-0 and J Alexander pitched a gem:  7IP with just 2 hits and no BBs. 11 Ks out of 14 outs! The pen struck out 3 for 14 Ks and 0 BB on the night.

Maybe the bigger news is Grissom going deep and 2-3 w a BB (up to .773, now.) Meidroth continues to defy all the metrics by going 3-5. Anthony 1-4 w BB. Campbell 1-2 was replaced mid game. Teel 0-3 w BB and 2 runs scored.

POR lost 8-4 as Wehunt struggled in his first start at AA (5ER in 5IP and just 1 K and 0BB)  Marrero homered (.834 OPS.) Jordan 2-5. Romero 0-5.

The farm season is winding down.

Coming into this season, I did not expect much from Romero, but he played really well once he got on the field. I hope he stays healthy and continues the solid hitting and solid defense

Agreed.

Hey, Grissom actually homered, twice!

Monty might claim CF.

Geoff Pontes from BA thinks a good spot for Romero going forward could be 3B. His power seems to be more of a carrying tool than previously expected.

I watched him and laviolette a lot at Texas a&m in 2024. Montgomery has a cannon. In Fenway, first to third on a ball hit to right field becomes dangerous, like when we had Renfro

I hope it's more accurate than Renfroe's.

We could always move Anthony to CF, if it works out like that.

Depending on how long it takes Montgomery, maybe it could be Anthony LF, Rafaela CF and Monty RF.

I know the scouting reports don't do Dobbins any favors, but he keeps getting the job done. Today, he went 6 IP, allowing 6 Hits (1HR) 1 ER, 1BB and 5Ks. His AAA ERA is 3.45.

Grissom went 2-5, while Anthony went 1-2 w a 2B and 3BB. He's at .961, now. Meidroth went 3-5 and is up to .860.

POR lost 9-0 as Early let up 6 Unearned runs. Their season is almost over.

This guy might be a DUDE next year.

I like the trade, a lot.

I also think Fitts can be good.

I just hope JH isn't thinking they can fill slots instead of adding a quality SP'er.

You know exactly what JH is thinking: I filled the CBO slot with a guy that trades for minor league arms, so we don't have to add quality SPers.

I could see that being the case, and it is a good way to add quality pitching to the big club, over the long haul, but I hope to God, this is not the plan.

1, Houck

2, Giolito

3. Crawford

4. Bello

5. Fitts, Priester, Criswell (Whitlock)

If we just add a #3, I'll be steaming pissed.

Even if we add a solid #3, a top closer and decent set-up man, I'll be upset.

To think we can bring back the same staff with these differences only and be much better is lunacy:

Pivetta> Gio

Jansen> Hendriks

Martin> Fulmer

Plus Fitts, Priester and more from Whit & Slaten.

Grissom with a 2 of 3 and 1 BB night, so far.

He's up to .786.

Makes me wonder, if he gets a call-up when Woo's season ends on Sun the 22nd...

Maybe earlier.

The Sea Dogs season ends, this weekend, while Woo's end next weekend. soxprospects comes out with their end of year rankings in November, but I'm not sure hos many changes will be made. I don't think anyone will graduate by then, but here is my rankings, as of now:

20. Valera

21. Cason,

22. Guerrero,

6.) perales - 2nd best stuff in the system (winkleman) how does he respond to surgery? Should be a mid rotation starter by 2026.

12.) fitts - a tale of two pitchers. When the velocity is up, mid rotation starter! When the velocity is down, batting practice pitcher
14.) Sandlin - mediocre stuff with a propensity to throw meatballs.
15.) tolle - mediocre stuff at TCU.
17.)monegro - mediocre stuff but plays up when command and control is good.

18.) dobbins - decent to good stuff. Not sure why he gets no love.
19.) ERC - mediocre stuff.
20.) valera - 3rd best stuff in the system.
21.) cason - unknown. TBD

22.) Guerrero - really good stuff. Command and control is seriously lacking
