It might hurt their return, but it’s still the best case scenario for Milwaukee…

Oh it will still be a bidding war to the highest bidder, without a doubt.

I thank God every day for sites like BTV. I mean, how else would I ever know that four jabronis in exchange for an All Star is probably not a fair trade ? Or that a ten dollar bill is better than forty nickels ?

Maybe.

I haven’t hurt much buzz about teams actually making offers on Burnes. Certainly that didn’t mean no one has. But the silence is all we have.

My prediction is Burnes will be a Brewer at least until the trade deadline, if not all season…

Right, because no one ever proposed that before. Heck I’m sure I’ve done some questionable trades, too. It’s not shameful, but there is at least one neutral check that can help people now. Not sure why people don’t it. I mean, besides the egocentric reasons…

Some posters may say the harsh complaints in the media about this Red Sox offseason are just typical blather from the likes of Shaughnessey, Tomase and Massarotti. Others might say their words just reflect the overall mood of Red Sox Nation. Both may be right.

But when Breslow was hired, does anyone think the public -- if not deceived -- was at least misled into thinking there were going to be some big changes made on the big league roster this winter? If not a major upheaval, then at least some big time upgrades in talent for the 2024 Sox?

We all hope Grissom becomes a star hitter, but even though he told his last GM he can pitch, there hasn't been any word from Brez and Bailey that he's in their mound plans. So there are still openings in the rotation for #1 and #2 starters. At least we know there will be a third game this season, when Bello takes the ball...

It's January 11th, and there are several FA's that could help the current roster still out there. As I usually say, let's wait until the finished product, and if they did nothing, we can tell them to f*** off on twitter. Oh, and Massarotti sucks.

Luckily you have RBI to sing you lullabies so you can sleep at night.

Deceived, or mislead was the result from Tom saying full throttle, and what the fans believed that to have meant. It never meant to me that the Red Sox were going to sign any high priced FA in the first place.

From Breslow's introductory press conference:

“We know that we have to be competitive next year,” said Red Sox chairman Tom Werner. “We're going to be competitive next year. You know that we're going to have to be full throttle in every possible way.”

“I don’t see financial resources as a limiting factor,” said Breslow. “I think that was something that was clear in the conversations that we had. Obviously, I think we have to line up a number of variables there. Interest and fit among two of them. The refrain I will keep hammering in these conversations is that there is a relentless interest in winning from all parties.”

When Bloom was fired:

"We're aiming for World Series Championships. That's it. That's the aim," said Sam Kennedy.

He's been right this offseason though.

Even if you ignore the "full throttle" portion of the quote, him saying saying "we know we have to be competitive next year" and them giving us another bridge year is embarrassing.

#1 it’s still not March 28th

#2 I think the Red Sox think they can actually be competitive, or at least in their definition of competitive.

I think once again the Red Sox badly misread the room on how much money it would take to sign some of these guys, so when Breslow said he didn’t see financial resources as being a limiting factor he didn’t expect prices to go up like they did for the Yam Man, which went up $100M from estimates before FA started.

But that doesn't explain why they couldn't sign Gray, E-Rod or Imanaga.

Sham! explains everything.

The majority of FA's that had 2 fWAR last season have signed elsewhere.

From the guys that are left, who would the Sox realistically sign that could make this year not a bridge year?

Montgomery

Bellinger

Snell

Chapman

Stroman

Kershaw

Belt

Clevinger

JD

Theories about "just trade for a guy" will not be allowed due to BTV hate speech.

"Interest" is their brand.

And that's what really sucks.

Depressing.

It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt of the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of unity and purpose as Red Sox Nation. The erosion of confidence in the future is threatening to destroy the social fabric of TalkSox.

25M on a 34 year old pitcher? Red Sox can't afford that!!! They are a poor smol bean franchise!

"Once again."

That has happened every offseason going back to at least Mookie Betts if not to Lester and beyond. :(

It's just not acceptable for these SMART people.

He's been right this offseason though.

Jacksonianmarch is also right every so often, but I dislike him too.

Yes Lester, Mookie, Bogey, and now. Not a good look at all. All the blame goes to the top. Even Shaughnessy just said he sees Bloom in a different light now.

Yeah, we know, you thought there were some thriller diller blockbuster trades coming.

This statement from Brez is alarming: “I don’t see financial resources as a limiting factor,” said Breslow. “I think that was something that was clear in the conversations that we had."

Was Craig deceived or misled? Maybe they showed him the books and he saw the financial resources, but when he went to use them he found his account was frozen -- like by the IRS, or because he was scammed... by the Puppet Master.

Brez also said he'd be willing to trade prospect capital -- and technically we can't call him out on that, since he did give up Santos and Robertson for Tyler O'Neill (though they seem more lower case than capital).

Thought was the key word, and that thought is getting less, and less every day.

And Shaughnessy even said when Bloom was fired he didn't think he was the whole problem.

When these guys are right...

So you think Bello isn’t the opening day starter right now?

Over their prize free agent acquisition of this winter -- the one they'll want to run out there to show the world how fixed he is -- the guy they signed for more AAV than any other pitcher contract since the Dombrowski days?
