Funny? I haven’t seen to many people laughing the last two years let alone all the other last place finishes. Not everyone is old like us, and haven’t seen, and remember all the years the years the Red Sox didn’t win a WS. To some it’s the here, and now that matters most.

Henry is the sole reason they are struggling to find a replacement CBO/GM.

They'll find one, but the pickings are a lot slimmer than they figured. Rightfully so.

It's not the lack of a WS, it's that he enforced a teardown that included dumping one of the greatest Red Sox players of all time.

And that player came back to Fenway this year, and put on a show. I don’t think JH was there to greet him, and to watch.

I thought Sam said that Boston is the place that everyone would want to be at?

Henry is the reason Betts isn’t here. f*** him.

That neatly sums it up. If a franchise like the Red Sox with its resources, is not going to keep the best homegrown (position) player since Fred Lynn - then you have to wonder what the hell we're doing here.

It's funny in the sense that we went 80 years without a ring, then got 4 under Henry. Now, we go 5 years without one- in a 30 team league, and the guy is a loser.

You may disagree, but certainly, you should at least be able to see why some are chuckling.

I could see, if our farm was now barren, and the 26 man roster was loaded with over the hill, high-priced players, but there seems to be some sort of strategy that involves being better in the near future.

I think it less the drought than letting their best homegrown player go and then lecturing the fans on demanding nice things.

When you have Boston's money and fan support - fans should expect a 90 win team every year. It might not always happen for various reasons, but that is the expectation. This year, any win expectation higher than 85 or 86 felt ridiculously optimistic.

Especially if the dedication to Cora is legit. Who is going to want this job if one of the primary duties is training your replacement?

No potential CBO is going to want to come with a team that doesn't have a long-term plan, let alone a current identity.

Gabe Kapler, that's who!

I agree, totally. I'm not saying I liked the 5 year plan, if that's what we just went through.

The lying to the fans is worse than the losing, IMO, because at least we were building a better future, while losing (on paper, anyway.)

Losing Betts really sucked. Not even trying to replace his salary, as well as Porcello's and half-Price's for 2-3 years stung hard. When you look at a team like the Astros, they lost Springer, Cole and Correa, but had the pipeline set up, so the fans did not care, all that much, about losing their studs and playoff heroes.

Losing Bogey would not have been so bad, had we not lost Betts.

Romero, too, because he knows, if he gets replaced, he will likely get promoted or given a sideways position.

Continuing to update the Red Sox search for a new head of baseball operations: Confirmed that Breslow has advanced in the process. Unknown if anyone else has. Multiple industry sources consider Breslow the favorite to get the job.

Continuing to update this: At least one (and possibly more) internal Red Sox candidate is believed to remain in consideration in the team's search.

Levine was told last night he would not advance in the interview process, so it looks like Breslow, or Fast Eddie at the moment unless JH springs a big surprise on everyone.

They could basically scare up only one legit outside candidate. Too funny.

Is he legit enough of a candidate? He's never been a GM or worked in the office on a day to day basis.

Under the circumstances at hand that might have been as close as you are going to get.

am I missing a joke here, or are you guys saying that despite reporting to the contrary that Levine has declined an offer to interview?

No joke just the sad facts. The report I got was Levine already had an interview, but was told last night he would not be moving forward.
