UPDATE:

@tylermilliken_

According to @alexspeier, James Click talked with the Red Sox but decided to withdraw his name from the search due to family considerations.

And still no word about NG. Very interesting in the least.

Within the past two hours. Is that JUST enough for you?

I'm not sure I'm buying the excuse.

It's like Manny's grandmother dying before spring training 5 times in his career.

If Cora had a hand, and a voice in getting Bloom fired, which I believe he did he is my hero, and more than likely many others as well. Give me a hell yea, and he’s a jolly good fellow!

Blind squirrel acorn. Cora is still a slug.

We got a doubting Thomas over here!

I think these candidates are turning down the job because they won't be given the space to make organizational changes to make the job their own.

More and more, it just feels like this will come down to an internal candidate like Eddie Romero Jr. I'd rather him than some of the names thrown around anyway.

That is the long version of saying they do not want to work with Cora.

And there will be derisive laughter when they do announce him. Not because he's a bad candidate but because they got turned down by so many, it'll look like the whole process was a joke and they ended up having to settle for him.

Yeah, couldn't have a thing to do with Henry firing his CBOs every 4 years.

No, it's not having the autonomy to being able to pick out the FO guys that they will work with on a day to day basis. The operation is already there. JH is already determined to keep everyone. I think any GM would be fine with having Cora for manager in 2024, it's the BOH/Grimma Wormtongue/Eddie/Raquel crew that has no movement and potentially is untouchable (with emphasis on the first two).

If this was the case, they would have rejected the interview outright like Gomes and others. The after the fact rejections leads to a different conclusion IMO.

I'm sure they're already working on the PR that they were just doing due dilligence.

Again, I'm pro Eddie and think he's a better fit than some of these others shlubs.

If one stops and thinks about it Bloom wasn't the only boss he back stabbed throughout his career. I think you are vastly over estimating how well Cora is thought of around baseball.

Wasn’t BOH the GM, and Eddie the assistant GM? So that would leapfrog Eddie over BOH.

Can’t wait for the Sam The Sham press conference if that happens after the extensive search.

Players love him. That seems important.

BOH is EVP of Baseball Ops. Hard to say what that job really entails. Seems to be outside the scope of GM'ing at this point. They have 13 EVP's right now. A promotion would put Eddie above BOH on the org chart but maybe not his boss?

Also, Paul Toboni interviewed for a position and that would also be a big jump in title.

I wonder if the Sox are surprised that BOH stayed on?

There is definitely Quantity in the FO.

The Legion of Bloom finally abandoned ship when it became impossible to keep bailing water. Now, they are revising history and claiming that there never was a Legion of Bloom.

There was no "Legion of Bloom," and everytime we ask anyone to name just one poster other than maybe Max, we get nothing.

I'm sure you probably think I was one, and if that's true, you will confirm you are full of BS.

The more you post about Bloom the more you make yourself look worse if that’s possible. You claim you’re not a Bloom guy, which is as preposterous as me saying I was, and I don’t think there is anyone on here who would say you’re not a Bloom guy. You whine, and cry, and worry so much on what is said about Bloom on here, which has been pretty mild compared to other places. I wouldn’t want to be associated with being a member of the Legion of Bloom either, and that’s why I wear my Bloom Basher t shirt proudly.

You were one of the original founders of The Legion. A charter member. Everybody knows that. Are you embarrassed to admit it ?

That's funny.

You used to deny you were a Bloom basher.

I criticized Bloom many times.

I defended Bloom more times, for sure, because so many lack of context attacks were made by you and "your legion of bashers."

Yes, I was optimistic when we hired him that he could do what was most needed. I thought he'd be better at finding "gems in the rough" as he was, although he did find a few. (I've said that phrase over and over, but you and others only see a counter to your baseless or faulty attacks as a sign of support.

It is your fatal flaw. If someone disagrees with your attack, we must support the other side.

Everything is black and white, to you.

I've taken part in discussions about what grade he deserves long before his firing. My grades for him were not out of line with most others, even those who wanted him out very soon after he was hired. The guy who wanted him out before he was even hired hardly ever gave a grade, except to hard on wins and losses and how "the majority of fans see it that way." (Like that matters, at all.)

You don't value farm and foundation building, like I do. That is fine, but that doesn't mean I think Bloom did a good job at building winning teams. He didn't. The team played about .500 ball under him. I gave that a C- or D+. I said I was fine with people giving him a D or D- for that. I didn't just say that after he was fired, either.

I do think the rest of his work should be part of his final grade, and I gave him better grades for farm building and foundation/budget aspects than others, and was clear to point out that the farm grade was purely speculative. If that sounds like a supporter, you need to look up what supporter means.

I think he deserved to be fired.

I provided the link on Bloom's hiring for you to go back and look.

Thanks for finally, after years of asking, giving a name. Why did it take so long?

Everybody knows what?

The guy was subject to an onslaught of off-base attacks, some totally false and some lacking serious context. Pointing out flaws in someone's attacks does not mean that person supports the person being attacked.

He was handed a very difficult situation. Just because you don't care about that does not mean I like what Bloom did.

I could give you a long list of Bloom criticism from me, some where people were saying I was going overboard, like saying the JBJ trade was a "head scratcher." The rebuffs went on for weeks.

I'm not embarrassed defending what I think is true and pointing out what I think is wrong.

Did I take "his side" more than you and Red, yes, and I guess that's all it takes for you to make faulty conclusions- like some of your attacks on Bloom.

What you call bashing I call criticizing, and that’s what I always said, and that’s where we differ. You can try to polish you’re not a Bloom guy turd all you want, but your stuck with that stigma forever. Wear it proud, and be AWESOME!🤓
