There's another sardonic piece in OTM about how Sam couldn't let us enjoy the good news about Theo for long - he had to make it clear it might not be for long and might not have much to do with the Red Sox LOL

He's a f***ing bastard. I don't know what that guy's problem is.

I don't think they have to sign both guys. I think Montgomery is a decent acquisition. I wouldn't sign Snell. My point was that they are so far under the cap that I don't understand all the dicking around. They could overpay on one year deals and make this team competitive.

I totally agree, and on the one year deals, we might be able to trade one or two for something useful, if the season craters.

Oh I get it. To me it all reeks of self-fulfilling prophecy - we're gonna suck anyway so it doesn't much matter what we do.

Bloom called them Underdogs last year, and as it looks right now it’s even more so this year.

You're using Whitlock and Houck to figure out who the closer is for 2025 IMO.

I could be wrong, but my guess is Breslow doesn't buy into the dedicated closer thing.

And now Bloom is with an organization that has spent some money upgrading their rotation this offseason.

The irony of it all.

Well, we might be able to trade Giolito and Pivetta at this year's deadline.

I'm ok with that. Just have good relief pitchers who can get people out...

Wish they would all lay off Sam, who has been nothing... but on the level with the Nation for all these years. Such a fountain of information, consistently updating fans on plans for roster upgrades and organizational direction in the marketplace -- our Old Faithful of Yellowstone Park (where a volcano will someday erupt to blot out the sun with ash... and Sam will reassure us of a sustained nuclear winter).

Any day now, I'm expecting Sam to update on the Sox rotation by telling us "all starting pitchers are equal, but some are more equal than others"

Sox can't compete with a big media market like St Louis.

@ByRobertMurray

Corey Kluber has retired after 13 seasons in the majors, he announced on Instagram.

Maybe we can tali him out of it.

Yariel Rodriguez to TOR for five-years at $32M.

No doubt the Sox will pounce on the DFAd Otto Lopez, who looks like the younger and better version of Dalton Guthrie. Between Lopez, Guthrie and Durand, the Sox should be able to put together one helluva battle for the all-important position of AAA bench player...

It's interesting that soxprospects.com still has Dalbec startong the season on the 26.

I realize we have no other player with any 1B experience to back-up Casas, but I just can't see Dalbec on the 26, unless Casas gets hurt, and even then, we may trade for a back-up, before Dalbec plays more than a few games.

Here is their projected AAA starting roster:

C: Roberto Perez

1B: Stephen Scott

2B: Nick Yorke

SS: David Hamilton

3B: Chase Meidroth

LF: Mark Contreras

CF: Ceddanne Rafaela

RF: Wilyer Abreu

DH: Enmanuel Valdez

Bench: Heineman & Kolozsary C, Dunand & Westbrook IF and Rosier OF. UT: Sogard, R Gonzalez & E Alvarez

Rotation: Wink, Walter, Fitts, Gambrell & Van Belle

The Portland roster features Anthony, Mayer, Teel, Hickey, Jordan & Wikelman

Pen: Criswell, Murphy, Weissert, Kelly, Guerrero, Booser, German, Hagenman, Politi

They still anticipate a starting rotation acquisition and an OF acquisition! I just think they haven't updated that page since Sam adjusted the payroll and they are being conservative with it.

In today's Globe, Dan calls Sam a human shield for John Henry (picture Sam with arms outstretched, in defensive position on the sidewalk, while the other 47 VPs stuff Henry into a limo).

Regarding Epstein, "He knows the Sox farm system is mediocre with no pitching."

"Theo can be honest about it while supplying some cover for the beleaguered Kennedy."

Why is CHB providing cover for Wormtongue now?

Apples to oranges

Apples and oranges have a lot in common.

Both are round, roughly the same size. Both are classified as fruit. Both have inedible seeds on the inside. Both are colored with red to some degree. Both are frequently juiced. Heck, you often find them near each other in the supermarket.

If you need to express how different two things are, maybe try apples and basketballs. Or apples and aluminum siding. Now THOSE things are different...

They're also both something that can fit in one hand... and be thrown.

Unless you're a pitcher who just had surgery and was signed in the Bloom Era to rehab for at least another year, before you start chucking apples and oranges on flat ground -- and then progress to some Southern forests to longtoss them to wild animals -- before finally graduating to toss fruit salad in mess halls to prospects in the Destructional League.

Apples to oranges is fine here. They are both pitchers with high level stuff, but one is proven on a league that's near MLB level, one is not.

Can you let the comparison of pitchers that have nothing to do with the Sox without a crappy joke about Red Sox pitching? Thanks.
