Makes me think we will be adding a 2Bman, this winter.

Trying to find an available quality second baseman would be great I think. As for trading Urias, a good trade I think. Urias is as replaceable as a player can be.

Urias didn’t look great for the Sox last season. He’s not good defensively. If he’s not raking, he’s useless.

A lot of MLB trades the last few days; good to see the Sox get involved. Nothing against Pablo, a bright spot on the roster last year, but second base seems wide open...

Is Jonathan India a fit in Boston? Let's see... 26 years old, some righty pop, negative dWAR -- all the same as Urias -- and BB-Ref Most Similar batters: 1. Estrada, 2. Gimenez, 3. Rengifo... 6. Luis Urias!

Trout has played an average of 79 games in the past 3 years- in peak prime years.

Now, he's over 32.

I'm all for making a super strong effort to get this team back into the mix. I just don't think going for shiny pieces is the way to do it. It might put more Sox fans in the stands or watching on TV, but my idea is to go for more reliable players, even if they are not as "shiny" as players like Trout.

Trout ain't a member of the totally walking wounded just yet. He could play half the games that most play and still out produce them. Everyone wants to have "more reliable" players but calling Trout "shiny" - no thanks. I want reliable players just like you do but currently I see no one in our outfield that I wouldn't gladly give up to watch this guy play even on a somewhat limited basis. I obviously doubt it happens but I like the thinking and in all honesty I don't think people would go to see him play simply for what he has done in the past.

Most Home Runs

45 JD Martinez 2017

43 Javy Lopez 2003

43 Matt Williams '94

40 Hank Aaron 1973

40 Ken Griffey Jr '94

40 TROUT, two years ago (when he didn't play half his games in Fenway)

The timing of the trade at the non-tender deadline suggests that the Red Sox did not think Luis Urias was worth his projected 2024 salary of $4.7 million. The Mariners apparently felt otherwise.

Seattle adds Urias to its second base mediocrity pile of Josh Rojas, Jose Caballero, Dylan Moore and Sam Haggerty. And the Mariners are high on second base prospect Ryan Bliss, a nearly 24-year-old Mookie Betts Lite. Sort of.:D

Campbell has a nice slider/sweeper, but gives up hard contact and walks too many guys. Even if he’s just on the taxi squad, it’s a good trade. Sox need someone better than Urias.

The Red Sox essentially traded Bradley Blalock for Isaiah Campbell with two months of Luis Urias stuck in between.

An expensive replacement player too.

No, India is terrible IMO. Like you said, he’s similar to Urias.

Seems fine to me.

Luis Urias’ negative 2 Defensive Runs Saved in 208.2 innings at second base for the Red Sox brought his career DRS at second base down to 0 in 1080.2 innings.

The 26-year-old Urias has posted 11 DRS in 1319.1 career innings at third base and could audition next season to replace Seattle third baseman Eugenio Suarez, who will be in the final year of his contract.

He’s a 3b going forward. Was a good 2b when he was younger, but I think he’s bulked up since then.

Is there any evidence that teams actually use BTV as an analytical tool to evaluate trade possibilities?

I'm with Old Red on this......I have no interest in it.

No one cares…

Some fans couldn’t tolerate Dustin Pedroia soaking up his $13mill AAV for three years and thought he should retire. Think there is any overlap with the ones who think Trout and his 7 years / $37.2mill AAV is a good idea?

I don’t think India is terrible, but he is really not a 2b. And Cincy probably wants pitching for him anyway.

I don’t mind I’d the Sox give up a pitcher for a 2b, but I would prefer it be someone like Brendan Donovan, who is an OBP machine. At least he brings something to the table that he excels at…

MLBTR disagrees with your assessment on his defense:

From 2021-22, Urias posted a .244/.340/.426 slash line across 1042 trips to the plate while playing strong defense at shortstop, second base, and third base ...

No one is trading for Trout unless the Angels eat a chunk.

The other thing is, what have Trout's injuries been, and what is the prognosis on them.

The rumors of him going to Philadelphia make sense - Trout is a flags fly forever move, and the Sox just are not there. The Red Sox roster right now also doesn't have the flexibility that you'd like to be able to get Trout his 500+ PAs ... and let's be clear, Trout is still a 5 win player if you could get that many PAs but that has been a struggle. Honestly, Trout would be a buy low move worth trying if the team did not have Yoshida on the roster.

2023 was a broken hand, 2021 was a torn calf muscle. Last year was back problems. I'd say the back is the most problematic.

He's young and just has to play like he did "way back" in 2021-2022.

.766 OPS (111 OPS+) with a .340 OBP

24 HRs per 650

47 2B+3B per 650

Plus D, according to dWAR

How expensive will it be to find a similar profile to this?

What the hell happened to him last year, though? The Brewers gave up on him pretty quick.

India is the worst or maybe second worst defensive 2Bman in MLB.

.727 OPS '22-'23 (97 OPS+)

No thanks.

He had a hamstring injury, bad enough to go on the 60 day early in '23.

Two of several possibilities:

He never found his groove again.

The 960+ PA sample size of '21-'22 was a fluke.

I'd rather see if you can get a decent prove-it with Amed Rosario or Tim Anderson.

Great if the Yankees trade for him and eat the entire contract

Luis Urias, who was born and raised in Mexico, will get to work with touted Seattle infield coach Perry Hill, who played six seasons in the Mexican League:
