If that’s the case That just show how far #2 pitchers have fallen.

And yet you incessantly complain about CBOs who buck the system to avoid paying these huge contracts…

You guys can Pooh, Pooh W-L records all you want like they don’t mean anything at all, and I never said they mean everything, but they do mean something. Just, because the Red Sox are in desperate need of SP, and he’s available doesn’t mean that now all of a sudden he’s better than he really is, and the Red Sox should try, and grab him. We disagree on what to call him, or if he’s worth the money, but no big deal.

He’s as good as he is. His recent 3 years has been good. It may not continue.

Yes, we are in desperate need of SPer. , and he’s one of the better ones available. He won’t cost as much as some nor lose a draft pick for us by signing him.

(Never said you felt W-Ls were “everything.”)

7 of the top 20 pitchers over the past 3 years averaged 10 or less wins per year. Pitchers must really suck these days.

Nola's record over the last 3 seasons is 32-31. That crazy Dombrowski!

I don’t know how the Yam Man will work out, but I’ve been telling you guys that this current crop of FA pitching is not worth all that money. You guys are trying awfully hard to convince me they are. I’ve been saying right along I would rather see the Red Sox trade for some young pitching from somewhere that would be a lot cheaper, and hopefully just as good. Most of these guys are just getting paid more so, because they are available than anything else. Let’s made some trades.

The Yam Man’s suitors can begin courting tomorrow at 8 AM. I’m thinking his courtship will take longer than what Bloom’s did with Yoshida, which was done in record time.

Nobody is trying to convince you.

Nobody thinks any pitcher available is a lock ace.

We can keep being Tampa North and endure your wrath, or we can overspend to get back to relevance and endure your wrath.

Why not tell us your suggested route to go with actual specifics?

Snell is 29-25!

Rondon was pretty good his last two years, before the Yankees signed him. How did that work out? How has Robbie Ray worked out in Seattle? These guys were available too.

I have already mentioned before. Let’s make some trades for some younger pitching. And no I don’t know with who. FA pitchers with big contracts are just to risky to me.

I don’t think anyone is arguing they are worth the money, but rather what they will get…

I’m fine with trades.

I’d love to see the Sox get Dylan Cease, but he will most definitely cost Roman Anthony. That’s a lofty price in itself. If they want Anthony, should Breslow make the move?

Have they even gotten a pitching coach yet?

Let’s throw in Martin, and some other pieces on the Sox, and make it a blockbuster.

Point?

Both of those guys got paid by other teams. The Sox could short change every pitcher on the market and return with last year’s staff. Think that’s a good idea?

No team giving up their ace is going to want a 37yo reliever with one year left. Giving up an ace = rebuilding…

If the price of Cease is Anthony, should the Sox do it?

My goof. I was talking thinking about Robert the White Sox CF.

Robert’s price will be even higher.

The White Sox unloaded 7 players at the deadline last year - all for prospects. They aren’t going to trade either of their elite controllable superstars for aging MLB players…

Before I'd even consider it, I need to know why Cease's ERA jumped almost 2 1/2 runs per game and why he had the worst WHIP in the American League last year.

And those are legitimate reasons to hesitate.

But if I’m the White Sox GM, I’m not budging from my ask of Anthony…

Who would be aging from the Red Sox?

Yes that would be a concern that I hadn’t looked up?

You mentioned 37yo Chris Martin, for one…

No, I said I goofed up. I thought for some reason the White Sox CF was named Martin. I wasn’t thinking about Chris Martin.
