As has been noted this year's version of the Sox is a roller coaster ride. Lose vs weaker opponents, then turn around and get a run going on better teams, not that this version of the Yankees is a good team. NYY is still the classic rivalry opponent that winning against validates life in this galaxy Edited by vegasbob

If anybody wonders why we won today, it’s because I was there. 8-0 on the season for me!!

time to set up a "go fund me" page so!!!!!

all joking aside, how s*** are the yankees though.........

i think that series demolitionb job that the Braves did on them this week ,has genuinely finished them off

Let’s finish the sweep tomorrow before some very tough games in Houston

Those games are where they need to try and gain some ground.

He's been one of the most pleasant surprises of recent seasons. Don't think any of us saw him becoming as good a starter as he has been.

No doubt.

I think MVP was higher on him than most of us, a year or two ago.

Especially this year, since, you know, the Yankees are the preseason World Series favorites...

... oh, wait -- that's every year.

Except on this board; we may have little faith that our Red Sox will win it all, but most of us know the media will overrate New York every single year.

Abreu is a dick. Gives up a 3-0 bomb to Raffy -- who ripped all five ABs, even his two outs -- then drills Turner on the next pitch, up and in.

Abreu was yaking the whole time Devers was circling the bases. You don't like it, pitch better. You dick.

Oh God, was this one of those a-hole appeals to some 'unwritten rule' that you can't swing at a 3-0 pitch because ... because ... oh I forget why but ...

Yeah, we should all read the unwritten rules to be sure we are playing the game the right way. What are the unwritten rules on Talksox ?

We are pretty much Cole's daddy. I'll post some stats on that tomorrow when they're updated.

Cole is 4-5 with a 5.86ERA against the SOX in 11 starts since the beginning of the 2021 season. He's given up 41 runs in 63 innings pitched.

If that's not ownership, it's pretty damn close.

Btw, with today's win the SOX clinch the 13 game series against the Yankems. So they're 7-3 against the Jays and 7-1 against the Yankems.

The SOX are 3 games under .500 against everyone else.

Rule #1: Never tell another poster he hates Cora (even if he does.)

Also, Cole's ERA entering today's game was 2.76; it is currently 3.03.

With Story, Reyes and Urias that's some pretty damn good depth in the middle of the infield. Bodes well for the future.

...and the rest of 2023.

We need Casas to improve at 1B and Devers to get back into a decent defensive groove that he has shown a few times over the past 2-3 years.

Duvall is decent in CF. Duran in LF is better than Yoshida, but having Yoshida DH, squeezes Casas or Turner to the bench. The way Duran is slumping, maybe some sort of rotation or platoon can get everyone just the right of playing time.

Good to see Dugo hitting, again, but his D is no plus. (I think we trade him, this winter.)

I really like the Wong and McGuire tandem behind the plate, going forward. With Teel in the wings, we have one less position to worry about.

Speaking of hitting, J-Rod of the Mariners over his last 4 games, including today, is 16-20. He's raised his average from .256 to .278.

He's not just hot, he's scalding hot.

IMHO, Dugo is an excellent defensive RF. I've been disappointed in his hitting, however. I thought this season with the shift no longer allowed that Dugo would show much improved offensive numbers. That hasn't happened, but there are still about 40 games left, so let's hope for the best.

Update: 17-21. Four straight games of 4 hits or more.

Btw, Wong's catch of that bunt was, for lack of a better word, Amazing.

Sure was. It's great to have McGuire back, but Wong is special.
