It would be nice to win another series, especially against a good team, but we really need a streak.

As always, though, one game at a time.

Go Sox!

Bello stinks--unless you believe in one game at a time, which I do believe in.

Despite the lack of star power and relying on a lot of no names, these Sox can be fun to watch. Duvall and Story are out. Kluber stinks. Arroyo has forgotten how to hit. Kike can't play SS like we thought. Chang might be OK at SS. Casas remains the worst of the worst at 1b--when will this long national nightmare end? Yoshida is the great mystery and underperformer from the Far East. But they are nevertheless competitive.

Our hitting has been fine, and our relief pitching has been great.

Our starting pitching has been abominable.

Technically, the scoring has been fine (3rd most runs in MLB). The hitting has been average. Metrics like wRC+ and wOBA have the Sox in the 12-13 range. Interestingly they’re not just lucky, as BABIP is 21st in MLB.

If ever anyone wanted to re-start a clutch argument, this team might provide solid evidence…

I think the problem is scheduling. Because so far, and for the rest of the year as well, the RS are scheduled to play the majority of games against teams better than they are! It's just not fair.

It is amazing that this team where no one can hit, pitch or field is somehow playing .500…

It really gets you wondering about those ingrained suppositions.

It's weird that out BAbip suggests we have been unlucky, and yet we are 3rd in runs scored while being 12-13 in meaningful metrics.

We have capitalized on errors, catcher interferences and this has helped, but may not be sustainable:

.745 OPS

.799 w RISP

.818 w Men on Base

.947 2 outs & RISP

Funny, but the fact is, our opponents are 11-11 vs us and...

78-40 vs all others.

Absolute, irrefutable numerical evidence that our guys only hit when it counts, lol. Better to be lucky than good. Great is a whole other level

One thing about pitching, as we wait for Bello, is that sometimes pitchers get wins they don't really deserve, sometimes circumstances overcome a good pitching effort and sometimes the pitcher just flat loses the game for the team. That's what Whitlock unfortunately did yesterday, especially in light of 4 one hit innings from the bullpen. Garrett blew that one, and the lead/winning run came from a bases loaded DP induced by Bleier, after Garrett loaded them without recording an out

Bello lacks command of his pitches. It's that simple.

And that's the difference between the Rays system and the Sox system. The Rays make sure their pitchers have command.

Finally, the third out. At 20-something pitcher per inning, Bello can go 3 or 4.

Funny the reluctance to use the slider, which seemed to be working.

The best part of Casas swing is when he checks it. As bad a hitter as he is, I remain astounded at how often he walks.

Infuriating watching this kid pitch. He has no control whatsoever.

Bello, in the first, looks more like a thrower than a pitcher. Still very young and a virtual rookie. I do think he is quick to get unsettled and takes a while to recover his poise
