I think I'd kick Crawford to AAA first. That's just me.

I doubt Houck leaves the rotation until a second starter (Bello? Paxton?) is activated.

And at that point they’ll demote Kelly because Ort is apparently too difficult to demote…

His contract is written with the opposite language of Alfaro's. He has a downward mobility clause. He can only be sent down to AAA if acquired by another team and demoted.

It sucks not having baseball on a Friday.

The 3-4 Marlins are playing the 3-4 Mets right now!

Luis Arraez has been mashing early this season.

Final line:

2.2 Innings, 7 bb, 4 k, 0 H 2 ER.

Marlins were looking to deal him this offseason for Casas.

@ShellyV_643

I love Edward Cabrera's stuff but it is hilarious that he didn't throw a changeup in the zone this afternoon...

and got zero whiffs on his four-seam...

and still had 4Ks...with 7BBs...

Meh. Think of it as a rain out without the hassle. I remember telling my wife that MLB teams always play on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays--and sometimes on Mondays and Thursdays. But of course every "rule" is made to be broken.

Been watching some Padres with X and Donny O out there….except last night was on Apple. I really don’t care for Spilborghs and he was the color guy last night. Apple has cleaned up the broadcast a bit it seems but still a decided work in progress. Did seem weird having no Sox yday.

Me too.

Sending Crawford down keeps him in a starting role at AAA, but if he does well in his next start, I'd consider moving Houck to the pen, instead and sending Kelly or Ort to AAA.

The tougher choice may be when Bello becomes ready. I doubt they keep him in AAA, and hopefully it is they they move Houck to the pen, leaving this 13 man staff until Paxton and or Joely are ready:

Rotation: Sale, Whitlock, Kluber, Bello, Pivetta

Pen: Jansen, Martin, Schreiber, Houck, Bleier, Winckowski, Brasier and one from Kelly, Ort or maybe Crawford.

Paxton and Joely would force all of Ort, Kelly and Crawford to the minors.

It was to allow for a rain-out on opening day, no?

Paxton is making strides. The other day he reportedly took one off the rubber, and Cora said, "We know where he's at" (his back foot landed over the hole at the front of the mound).

After regular rest, the plan is for Paxton to ramp back up, when the Sox will have him climb the ramp on one of those artificial indoor mounds. No more baby steps... but manly strides.

Lefty starter for Detroit.

Yes I’d like to see Houck in the pen too, but that said I’d really like to see one or two of these starters who are on the bubble make Cora’s job tough.

Tampa may want to win a WS soon. They can't afford to wait 86 years; Florida will be completely underwater long before that.

It’s the only way to take down big sugar.
