It's beginning to feel a lot like ... Oakland or Pittsburgh.

Who hated the JBJ trade from day one?

Stop the pretending you don't know.

Think "head scratching."

If that's the worst you'll say about a trade, I can see why people get frustrated at how you talk about the FO.

What makes you think that was the worst I said about the trade?

I criticized the hit on the budget, while Bell and others minimized it by saying the $8M option was not on the tax line.

I criticized JBJ's skill level and how basing hopes on what he sis in a short period in 2020 was foolish. We all know JBJ and short sample size wonders.

I said this has to be about the prospects and Bloom better know more than others, because neither looked all that promising.

If you think I supported the JBJ trade, you are wrong, but like others here will never admit it.

No, not even close.

I'm asking you to name someone who supports Bloom 100%. Is that another statement that doesn't mean what it says?

I support Bloom more than many here. It's no secret. Many times it is only after someone makes a bashing claim I feel needs context, but I'm not denying I defend him a lot- just not near 100%. If it's not me, who is the 100% defender?

I doubt there is even a 75% defender.

See once again NOBODY SAID anybody supports Bloom 100%, and you can’t find someone who did, and you are making things up again just like you said I said Bloom signed Frail. Wipe off your Brown Bloom nose, and let’s shut this down. Others are getting tired of the nonsense, and I don’t blame them.

Petty personal attacks do not enhance the quality of this forum’s discussions.

What? I haven't called Red a clown or anything!

I read through the thread and it was weak criticism. There's no "hate" in the posts that you wrote. It's all milquetoast. It's why they all believe you constantly provide cover for Bloom. You may say that you want Devers Forever, you also complain about crybaby fans and tell other posters to go root for other teams if they don't like it. That's just bootlicking 101. If you REALLY hated the JBJ trade or the other moves, there'd be a thimble of vitriol in your posts. We don't even get to see that.

At least Oakland put competitive teams for many years spending just a fraction of Boston’s payroll.

Complete ********. It can be done easily by someone who has repeatedly said he doesn’t understand Bloom supporters because they defend everything Bloom does. And he has posted this multiple times…

"Everything" has it's own special meaning to Red. We are just digging too deep into what words actually mean.

He's not the only one pretending there is some legion of complete and total Bloom defenders and apologists.

The ones of us who find ourselves adding context to bloom bashing posts or outright exposing falsities or partial falsities have all been critical, and at times highly critical of multiple moves by Bloom.

I could be wrong, but I get the feeling a few posters who bash bloom often, have less examples of praising some of his good moves than we have on critical examples.

Has Bloom turned the Red Sox into the A's / Pirates?

Last year, the signings of Jackie Bradley and Travis Shaw, again, were easily the most obvious clues Bloom was a fraud.

We've not signed any premiere player over the last three years (Story was a big $ signing, but was not a top 3 shortstop). I'm surprised Bloom hasn't signed David Price again. We have a large number of FA after this coming season (10).

If he does, it's because ownership asked him to.

But moreover, the industry is using extra long deals to circumvent the luxury tax and Red Sox ownership has to get wise to that.

I think those really long term deals look smart now but a time will come they won't look nearly as smart. It's a buy-now-pay-later mentality.

I have to think some of these owners may be thinking they won't be the owner, when these deals all start going in the dumpster, while some may just keep spending their way out of the mess.

Look at just what the Price and Sale contracts did to the Sox. If you add Pablito, HRam and CC before that, one can see why maybe JH has gotten a bit reluctant to agree on any more large and long deals. Even his large and medium and medium and medium deals have not paid back in production. Even the few that did had caveats.

I don't see most of these contracts as trying to beat the lux tax calculation as much as the only way to outbid the other maniac owners.
