With the market going berserk now that covid losses are in the rear view mirror, what do you think Devers gets on the open market?

I think Devers will ultimately sign for a 13 year $390 mil deal with an opt out at year 4.

I mean if you want to have fun speculating - what will Juan Soto’s next deal look like?

I’m thinking 14/$532mill

The Yankees will give Soto $600M for 15 years that will take him through age 40, when an incentive clause for living that long automatically anoints him mayor of the Bronx, with an opt out during the Pinstripe Pandemic of 2050 -- the same year he'll run for the House of Dracula, using his fortune to produce ads exposing the bipolarity of his opponent, Old Man Walker from Texas, who morphs from a bull to a werewolf, depending on when the moon is full or made of green cheese.

Devers' agents will open at 14 years for $490M -- that's $35M AAV -- with the intent of settling for $30M AAV. And since he's younger than Xander, he'll want more years, so 13 for 390 is not out of the question...

... if he stays healthy and has a 90 XBH salary-drive season, someone out West will pay him.

If you go $390/13, just make it an even $400M/14.

Whatever Raffy ends up getting you know the Red Sox will not end up being the one paying it.

They might do it. But I'm sure as hell not counting on it.

What kind of % are you calling might? I’m saying 0%. The Red Sox were $100M short on Bogey, and you think the Red Sox are all of a sudden going to pony up for Raffy who will be even more expensive?

a) Devers is considerably younger.

B) I think this FO realizes they have to do something to placate people, or sell the team.

I don’t think JH is sitting there comparing ages, or metics, or anything else except $.

If they don't retain Devers, that will make it a Grand Slam of homegrown stars sent packing in the last decade: Lester, Betts, Bogaerts and Devers. Quite a feat.

Indeed. I don't even want to buy Jerseys anymore with names on the back.

Don't buy gear. The RS have just shown they don't give a cr*p about YOU, so why would you hand over any money to THEM?

Yes, I learned my lesson with Betts. Last jersey I will probably ever buy

And even raised ticket prices again to prove how much they care.

aside from a seismic shift in strategy, Devers is your LAD starting 3B in 2024.

Actually, I think he could be a Yankee next year. Donaldson comes off the books and with Stanton being so hit or miss, the Yanks need a Robin to Judge’s Batman.

Maybe, but I think the Yankees will try to reset next year.

Also, Soto will be able to out-pizza the Hut!

The Dodgers have 23yo Miguel Vargas at 3b, he of the .915 OPS and 32 HRs in the PCL last year. Think he just gets one season to prove himself?

Since I spend half the year in LA, it will be pretty great to see all the RS superstars right in my back yard. And when that happens, I will be rooting for Boston to lose every game until the team is sold.

Interesting that the highest paid Sox players of the last decade don't make the top 4 list.

$217M Price

$154M AGon

$145M Sale

$142M Crawford (started right before the last decade)

$140M Story

$110M JD

None were/are homegrown, and only Sale was a real extension. (Technically, AGon was, too.)
