Cashman has ensured the Yanks make the playoffs every year and build a decent to good farm system to deal from or promote. He went for it this year, but again only half assed and ended up with an injured starting pitcher, an injured reliever and a soon to be injured contact hitter. Rolled snake eyes. My issue is he leaves holes EVERY YEAR at the beginning of the year that we need to backfill at the deadline with prospect capital. Spend big one off season, fill all holes and then let the kids fill in when they are ready

He never seems to realize you need to step it up during a window time period. Now, you may lose Judge, and the window is not so open.

I don't think he should have pulled a DD, but he could have made one or two more deals to improve your chances.

We've heard you bitch ab out him, a lot. This last post almost sounds flattering.

You like the extension or not?

8-300 for Judge. That’s impressive

Giants' Offer To Aaron Judge Reportedly "In The Neighborhood" Of $360MM

Posted
Let him go then. 9-$360 mil is insane. Sign Nimmo and Correa and lengthen our lineup

It might be $360M/10, and I hope the Yankees match it.

Waiting for an answer from post #91.

I don’t. I think a fresh look is better

Here’s my issue. We’ve seen Judge in the POs for 6 years. Every time the POs come around, the guy is an easy out. Good pitching has always shut him down. Now good pitching shuts a lot of people down, but for the MVP and leader of your team, you gotta be better. The problem with 2022 Yanks was the offense was Rizzo for half a year and Judge for the whole year and basically nobody else, so losing Judge will be a big blow. But we essentially lost Judge in the ALCS. Our pitching is really good. Our pen should be healthier and has some reinforcements in the minors. It’s our offense that’s terrible and needs to improve. Either we bring along the kids or we add to the lineup, but if our plan was to add Judge and call it a day, then that’s a losing plan. I’d much rather see us being in two great players that will lengthen the lineup than re-sign our one and watch us bow out again in the ALCS

Correa will cost a lot- probably not as much as Judge in AAV, but for more years.

It's good to see Yankee fans turn on their stars so quickly and firmly.

Not turning on Judge at all. But if we are gonna play to a budget, then $40 mil a year for a guy who’s never done anything in the POs is a good way to have a bad team. IF Cash gets a blank check, then bring in Judge and more. We need more than one position improved

Sounded like his small playoff sample size soured you.

Look what players are getting. The Yanks are being outbid for their biggest superstar in a long time. Think about that.

Personally, I agree. No player is worth 1/5th of the player spending budget. I've been hoping, for the Sox sake, you guys sign him and cripple your budget for years to come, but I didn't expect you to pick Judge apart.

I guess people could say I pick Bogey apart by criticizing his defense, but Judge is in a class by himself.

172 PO AB’s, .210 BA, .772OPS. You’re not really at a small sample size anymore. That’s 1/4 of a regular season

Either way, I don’t doubt Judge’s greatness and he’s probably my favorite player in the game today. If Hal wasn’t tied to the cap as tightly as he is, I’d love to have him back at any cost, but knowing Hal’s history, bringing him back at his cost will not help the team. We’ve lost in the POs with him. Might be time to change it up

A quarter season is a small sample size in the grand scheme of things. Look at almost any great player and you'll find a few 200 PA sample sizes that are 200 points lower than their career OPS. (Many will have even worse stretches.)

You are trying to pre-soften the blow of losing him. I get it.

The "change-up" should have been your manager and GM.

If Judge walks, you sign Conforto on a pillow contract and bring on Correa. Maybe you bring on Bogey too as the 2b and flip Torres for some pitching or move him to 3b

If you think you’re bringing in Bogaerts to play 2b, you don’t know Bogaerts. He is NOT signing anywhere where he’s not the guy at shortstop.

He’s no Pinstripe Slut like A-Rod…

Performing in the postseason is definitely a factor -- and players don't want to hear about sample sizes; they know.

It's fair for Yankee fans to be concerned... ARod always faced added pressure in the playoffs.

But true fans know batting stats aren't everything, because anyone who has actually watched entire postseasons knows that Mookie Betts always contributes, on defense and/or baserunning.

Judge's issues are when he struggles offensively, he is an autoK. Mookie puts the ball in play, moves runners, steals bases, etc. He can impact the game in different ways on offense. Whereas Judge just strikes out and that hurts.

Biggest contract in baseball history for a large man. He is my favorite player, but I thought we could do more with the money. He disappears in the POs and on this team, he needs help. And this contract does not allow the Yanks to offer that. While I am glad he will retire a Yankee, I do not think this makes us better, probably the contrary

Now you got 3 $300M contracts on the team, and they can all grow old together, which they will do very quickly, and with nothing to show for it.

One big playoff series and he's near his regular season numbers.

I hate the fact that we have to face him so often, but I'm loving looking at your budget and ages of your top players.

That's the issue. We continue to beat the same old drum and expect a different sound.

Of all the three contracts over $300M, Judge was the most important one.

(I think MIA's payments to the Yanks for Stanton put his contract just under $300M on the Yanks ledger.)

The tax budget outlook (remaining):

$40M x 9 Judge

$36M x 6 Cole

$22M x 5 Stanton (counting the $3M MIA pays)

$25M x 1 Donaldson

$20M x 2 Rizzo

$15M x 4 LeMahieu

$15M x 1 Severino

$10M x 3 Hicks

(Torres may get $10M in arb)

So the Yankees original offer to Judge was 213.5 million.

They signed him for 360 million.

A delta of 146.5 million.

Crazy times we live in, folks...

Rumors swirling that Yanks aren’t done with big acquisitions yet. Rodon on their radar

They haven't actually made any other acquisitions yet, other than Kahnle.
