I'm not keeping his seat in the rotation warm. He can pitch out of the bullpen if he wants.

I don’t think anyone would be keeping his seat warm, and would only be added if there is a big need. I wouldn’t keep Sale’s seat warm either, because you can’t count on him no matter how much the Red Sox owe him either. Let him pitch out of the BP.

You can't keep Sale's seat warm or he could burn a glute and miss another entire season.

Go as high as $3M?

I would, but I'd like to see who else we can get for $3M. We got Strahm for that, last year- not that I was wow'd by that signing, at the time.

Our other $3M recent signings?

Marwin

Andriese

Sawamura ($3M/2)

I'd consider pitching Sale out of the bullpen if I thought his arm wouldn't fall off after pitching back to back days.

I get the feeling all these IL stints are killing Sale. He seems like such a fierce competitor.

It's not getting him on the field any faster.

Neither is riding his bike in the city, which he is probably contractually prohibited from doing…

Would the Sox have to pay out the contract upon death?

Not according to Boston Celtics vs Mrs. Reggie Lewis…

Is biking safer in the countryside? Or do city bikers have to weave to avoid timber rattlesnakes, chupacabras and natural selection deniers?

The sad part is - he probably has one. Not to mention an elliptical, a Stairmaster and his own personal aerobics instructor named Cyndi who dots her “i” with a heart…

What he really needs is a minder.

According to the IIHS, from 2018-2020, about 80% of all the bicycle fatalities were in urban areas. However, roughly 81% of the US population lives in what is defined as an "urban" area, so it seems equally dangerous to ride your bike no matter where you live. 67% of all bicycle fatalities are due to vehicle related incidents.

That's not much of a shocker, is it. Stupid people in vehicles kill.

Only if they modify it with a seatbelt to keep him from falling... for when he gets mad and rips the monitor off the handle bars.

The most common cycling injuries from riding a Peloton Bike include knee pain, back pain, saddle sore, wrist pain, and ankle pain.

When I lived in Boston, it was really scary to ride my bike. I quit after about a year. My cousin was hit after the last game of the Bruins/Vancouver Stanley Cup Finals and spent a week in the hospital. She still has no sense of smell. The driving culture in Boston is bad due to traffic, poorly designed streets and people with horrible attitudes. Now that cars and trucks are getting larger and larger with even stronger engines, it's even less safe for bikers and pedestrians.

I will admit that there are bikers in Boston who don't follow the rules of the road and give others a bad rap, but doesn't give aggressive drivers the authority to run bikes off the road or plow through crosswalks.

I can't imagine him doing hot yoga. Wonder if it would do him good?

Pretty sad. Way too many stupid human beings out there.

He’s apparently into Hot Goat Yoga, less common due to the shortage of hot goats. Or even moderately attractive goats…

Spotrac's market value for free agent pitchers, with approx AAV:

Verlander and deGrom, $41M; Rodon and Kershaw @ $31M

Nola @ $26M, Bassitt @ $21M; Eovaldi @ $16M, Thor @ $15M

Taillon and Walker $14M, Tyler Anderson @ $13M; Manaea and Wacha $12M, Heaney @ $11M

Which guys -- if any -- make sense for Bloom?

The Sox really need an ace, but age and health issues make one Verlander or one deGrom less sensible than a trio of Anderson, Manaea and Wacha...

Manaea at 12? He was putrid down the stretch this year.

I'm not sure Heaney should get a pay raise after missing half a season.

Walker at 14 seems like an overpay.

Syndergaard and Eovaldi may be worse bets than Taillon going forward.

Is Bassitt really a $21M guy? That seems really high. That's basically the inflated Fangraphs value of WAR.

Kershaw signed 1/17 last season. He's now going to get 31M AAV? These numbers seem a little high...
