I disagree. Story drives in runs. The biggest impediment is Sale's contract. But, again, not having Price's retained salary next season does give the SOX FO 16 mil to play with.

The infield will be almost 100 MIL alone if they do that. I don't see that happening. They have other holes to fix as well.

JD's $22M will be gone too.

True. And if the SOX do re-sign Bogey, I believe they have enough current offense where there should be no need to go out and sign a replacement DH. So there's extra money to be used on pitching.

This is why I hated the Story signing. I think it will block the FO to now to extend both Bogey and Devers. Unless they can unload Story to another team

I don’t see them signing both of them. Henry has told Bloom to reduce payroll. Unless he changes his mind the team won’t be competitive for several years.

The benefit of keeping Bogey and Devers is they've already proven they can play at a high-level in Boston. Replacing Bogey to save a few million dollars is a big risk, which we all know backfires too much here. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

Story drives in runs because of the two .300 hitters in front of him, no?

Yeah, usually there have to be runners on base to drive them in. I'm glad you were aware of that. Actually, I'm surprised you were aware of that.

Great play by Story, but you probably won’t see plays like that next year with the new shift rules.

I for one and happy about the new shift rule. It's getting ridiculous really. They make positions for players for a reason as they are suppose to play there. What's the point of having a SS who doesn't play there over half the time and plays second base or a 3rd base play SS? If this is the case they wouldn't name positions and just you'd be either an IF or OF.

After chewing on the Rangers this weekend , the Red Sox have the enviable task of returning to the AL East tomorrow in the form of the Tampa Bay Rays for 3. The Rays will be trying to continue their run at the Yankees heels, so expect thier A game. And we are so close to .500 going in. Will need to win the series to do that.

Sox are playing better. Having Story back and hitting is huge. Xander is on fire. Dugo and Arroyo are hitting. Casas is going to be an improvement at first. They may not make the playoffs but they can be spoilers.

Leaving Fenway to play ball in a circus tent that's inside a mausoleum is a real downer. I think that describes the whole state.

The truth is that when comparing Bogey to Jeter, Bogey is the better all-around player.

Xander doesn’t have the benefit of winning undeserving gold glove awards though.

The much maligned bullpen has now thrown 5 innings of 1 hit/ 1 walk baseball against a team that sometimes can hit, like last night's 8th/9th innings. A 4 game sweep at home will be a great move prior to going to the Trop where not much good can be counted on.

I agree 100%. Someone had 4 OF the other day. This isn’t softball.

SOX still haven't lost their habit of abandoning runners in scoring position. This game should have been a blow out.

Absolutely. It felt more like a 8-2 game, especially with 12 hits and 4 walks. 4 for 13 RISP isn't awful, but 9 were LOB'ed.

But we did eat up the BP again, including Schreiber. We will be going to the Rays short as we have been all season

If the SOX have any starter that's capable of going 7, it's Wacha. So there's that.
