Looking at the outfield for 2023 and I see two massive holes, maybe 3 if Bradley is jettisoned.

Verdugo is in left.

Bradley is a very expensive defensive replacement only.

Duran is your quad a emergency call up.

We need a stud center fielder and a stud right fielder, preferably with a cannon for an arm.

Lmfao

Betts Renfro AB any of those players ring a bell Larry?

Look at it. Study it. Memorize it.

And I'm not unhappy with Crawford, Bello and Winckowski. They've shown they can pitch in majors.

And always, always trade players when their value is peaking......that's Vaz.

Whose going to catch Little Nicky, Mickey Mouse?

Orlando trades Vazquez your in the same boat as when you traded AB and Renfro

Connor Wong will be the backup next year (and he's supposedly good with the pitching staff). I would have been happy to promote him this year and DFA Plawecki. Having a Plawecki/Wong combo down the stretch wouldn't be competitive though, but that's not what they'd be going for.

Vazquez is a free agent anyway.

Keeping him or trading him doesn’t change that status…

Unless you want to give him a QO.

One could argue that they are not very competitive with the combo of vaz/plawecki anyways....

I'd due a 2 year deal at short money for him. 2/13?

I sincerely doubt that a .280 hitting catcher with an OPS of .760 is going to take a pay cut.

As Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reported, the red sox are having catching prospect ronaldo hernandez to travel with them to houston on the taxi squad. That means he’ll be available to play for the team should a trade go down.

I think it would help negotiations, and the one year against their $108mill in commitments is a drop in the bucket.

Despite my thoughts on it, I’d still be shocked as Hell to see Vazquez get a QO, and I get why he won’t get one…

I’m not surprised.

He's also been hitting the ball really well. Would be a fill in DH if need be.

I think r hernandez only had 1 minor league option after this year. At some point, we have to see if he has anything under the hood!

I think they already had called him up earlier this season, but he sat on the bench. At the very least, he was inactive and on the taxi squad.

According to what I have read he is on the taxi squad for this trip to houston.

Speaking of houston, I was just informed by my company that I won't have to attend the convention this year in houston. Thank god, what an awful city.

Another swing and a miss, Ken.

This year I have been to NYC, Philadelphia, the Bahamas, Weeki Watchee Springs, Aruba, Ireland and Key West. I have another trip booked for the Keys in October and maybe a trip to Atlantic City in November.

Where have you been this year?

Atlantic City in November sounds like the saddest vacation ever planned.

It's more of a long weekend to see a concert and a quick visit with family for Thanksgiving. Still better than you sitting in the basement screaming upstairs "Mom, the meatloaf!"

You're not a real person. We don't have basements in Florida, dum dum.

Well, some places actually do have basements in Florida.

I thought you still lived in your mom's basement in dorchester......

The clock is ticking on a few Sox players on expiring contracts.

Will we include money to get better returns or save enough to get under the tax line.

We could thread the needle and do both?

Posted

If we end up getting nothing for Eovaldi and JD, my head will be itching like mad!

I wonder if Strahm, Wacha or Hill have any value, if we pay most of their remaining salaries.

Well, since he is in houston now, maybe mcguire can give you a hand with that.....

Hill, no. Wacha, maybe? Strahm, yes. I wouldn't pay any of their salaries though.

Better return if we pay. Maybe more teams interested, too.

You don't need to pay for Strahm. They didn't need to pay for Diekman!
