Do your homework

It’s a risk no matter how you see it

Martinez can hit and has been one of baseball’s best for a long time

2 days off isn’t going to compromise that for any Team looking to deal

Smell the coffee

Lol, so is it standard to display trade assets or have them ride the bench? What do other GMs do? I didn’t ask what armchair GM Stork would do but rather what other MLB general managers do? I’ll wait…..

Are you actually criticizing the Sox for letting Martinez play DH? That’s f***ing ridiculous.

Hey counterthought - maybe if the Sox benched him, other teams would think he was too fragile to acquire.

Bottom line is nearly every team is playing their marketable players right now. Willson Contreras might be the jewel of the trade deadline, but he’s in the Cobs’ lineup almost every night, at either catcher or DH…

It’s insane what this guy will complain about. I’m convinced if JDM was out of the lineup he’d be all hot and bothered by that saying that he should be on display to increase his trade value.

Some people just like to complain, or maybe cry who knows. I suspect his keyboard is lubricated with salty tears.

Technically he’s a troll desperately trying to look intelligent…

Harm , Since Seattle decided they are all in and acquired Castillo , the injuries have started . In the words of the inimitable John Sterling , " That's baseball , Suzyn. " It can be a cruel game. Good luck.

Six of Seattle's next 10 games are against the New York Yankees but the remaining schedule is considered soft. I hope Julio Rodriguez will return in time to face the Yankees in an August 10 afternoon game I plan to attend in Seattle.

What can Hang’em Chaim get from the Mets for Martinez, eovaldi and Vazquez?

BTV suggests “not much”. None of Eovaldi (0.7), Martinez (0.4) nor Vazquez (0.4) offer much in the way of surplus trade value. Maybe a high A pitcher like Jordany Ventura or Nick Zwick. Or possibly AA RHP Grant Hartwig.

The Sox reportedly want 3b prospect Mark Vientos, but on BTV, that’s a No Go. Of course, Cohen seems to care less about salary than most owners , and we can hope he might be willing to ensure a deal gets done, too.

But then he presumably didn’t get rich by giving everyone what they want…

JD has a .813 OPS this year, that’s well above average,

I Just looked it up: JD has a OPS+ of 121. Danny Vogelbach has an OPS+ of 121, thus meaning that the Mets would likely have zero interest in JD at this point. They can't possibly carry two DH types of their roster.

Who was Danny Vogelbach traded for? A decent young relief pitcher, right? Accordingly, I would think the JD's trade value is basically the same.

Getting some high-A lottery tickets with upside along with at least some "likely average regular" potential would be fine.

Eovaldi has been one of the better starters in the league when healthy - I think he could get something decent. JD might have some market but the Sox might have to eat some salary. But he is still a professional bat.

I’m in the monority here that we should extend Evo .High A picks may interest you and Bloom but I think trading a world series hero and our Ace the last few years is a team death nail but that’s Blooms MO here ....killing the team .

Eovaldi has been a home run machine this year, not a good trait for a pitcher. He’s had a long career riddled with injuries, and is already 32. He’s very unlikely to be healthier in his 30s than he was in his 20s. The Sox already have Sale and Paxton under control for next season; how many oft-injured pitchers do they need?

You can’t rant about the GM not filling in all the injuries on one thread and then advocate for more players whose Topps baseball card lists their position as “IL” on another…

JD to tigers ? Pitching maybe ? He loved it there too.Feels right for JD and right for us .Love JD and want him to be happy where he lands

On what planet would the tigers have any interest in an expensive rental DH??!!

I think there's a strong chance Bloom is given the green light to pay for the remaining salaries of the players dealt off to maximize return potential

I would actually like this as it could result in Major league talent in theory. The problem I’ve always had with Bloom is my own perception he’s only interested in B and C level major league talent maybe I’m wrong here but this kinda looks to me like he’s looking at proven studs .Montas and Oakland’s Catcher come to mind with that thought .I would be over the moon if He pulled this off .

Likely wouldn’t happen no doubt but I’m thinking of him first here .I agree it’s a loooooong looong shot .I don’t get sappy often for players but I’ll admit a few I do ...he’s one bro .We would have to pay full freight.

It's not even a long shot, it has zero chance of happening.

Ohhhh really ? STFU you have zero insight prick .

Go f*** yourself, *******.

Why would a horrible team with no chance of making the playoffs trade for a struggling, expensive rental DH?!

Bitch please .5 players minimum are getting moved according to Passan who has as much insight as a rock on the ground .I am just saying JD loves playing there and maybe we pay the freight .Now go tickle your multitude of cats and leave me the f*** be ,

He has been a homerun machine ... but he also has had an excellent ground ball rate and his strikeouts and walks are still pretty good. If his warts offer enough for a reasonable contract I'd do it. Like 3 years 40-50 million is kind of okay?

Ownership drives the train here - in terms of what sort of team they want back. In 2014 ownership wanted a major league level return for Lester so that was the trade Cherington made.

You show how dumb you actually are with every post.

Even if the sox paid his remaining salary, why would the tigers do it?

And jd loving playing there matters exactly how?

This would greatly improve the return value and the amount of teams bidding against each other to get a select few of the short term players we have with value.

To get a good hitter for free??? (or a non-premium prospect)

Why would the Sox trade him to Detroit and pay his whole deal for next to nothing in return?

Detroit is not looking for rentals. No bad teams are.

When the trade deadline comes, I think J.D., Eovaldi, and Vasquez will be gone. Connor Wong will be called up to the be the backup catcher, the lineup will get weaker and the rotation will be filled out with 3 TBA’s each week. Contenders are not going to want any of our other garbage and Bloom will not move XB or Devers.

Eovaldi, Martinez, Vazquez and Deikman to the mets for Vientros!

Brazier to the padres for a bag of used baseballs.

Straihm, kike and Bradley to Atlanta for a high a prospect.

That is fair ... they probably could get something better than you'd expect if they took calls for Schreiber ... good reliever, lots of team control. If you could turn Workman and Hembree's entrails into a decent starting pitcher, who knows?
