Harmony, when is Seattle going to say to Houston "you're my daddy?"

So far Seattle has a 2-4 record against Houston despite taking an earlier series from the Astros.

At least the Mariners have a better record against the Astros than the Red Sox have against the Blue Jays.

It should be an interesting season ... thanks for asking.

Well, we were curious what a Bloom RS team would look like ... I just didn't think we'd reach Bobby Valentine levels so quickly.

Bloom for EOY

0-5 in extra innings games, and the Red Sox have had the lead in the 8th inning in all five, but yet Cora doesn’t think they need a real closer.

Cora for MOY.

How much longer are we chained to Barnesy? The correct answer is : Too long. Too f***ing long.

6.92 ERA for Barnes since he signed his extension. Way to go Bloom.

That's BS, he's only dealing the cards Bloom dealt him... or didn't, as in not acquiring a closer. Here are Cora's direct quotes about it from last night -- and look, you don't even have to read between the lines: "we would love somebody to step up and be consistent to throw strikes, go through three batters and turn the page. That’d be great so we could actually set up the sixth, the seventh, the eighth."

The only Cora didn't say is what is obvious: the front office chose to enter the season with an incomplete roster.

Cora is dealing with the cards Bloom gave him, but Bloom has given him Whitlock, who Cora refuses to use as the closer. I’ll repeat in just 25 games the Red Sox are 0-5 in extra inning games, and have been in the lead in the 8th inning, or after all 5 games. How many of those 5 games do you think the Red Sox would have won if Whitlock had been the closer?????!

That’s a pretty good quote with a shot at the FO there. What’s Cora supposed to do?

How about trying closer by committee? Oh wait he’s already trying that.

I'm not allowed to sit in the conference room when the front office plans ahead, but somehow I doubt Cora is the mastermind of limiting Whitlock's starts, and methodically "stretching him out" so that by next year the Sox could have an ace who can go six, even seven innings.

Managers don't plan for the next season, not when this one could be their last.

At the moment neither Bloom, or Cora have a clue.

Barnes was quoted last night as saying "The ball feels good coming out of his hand". WTF. That is one of the dumbest sayings in MLB.

It feels good to the batter too.

THIS above. Whitlock should not be starting PERIOD. He can be slotted in just about anyplace but starting for this team is the worst way to use him. Cora needs to give it up.

It think it was a pretty good fastball for Barnes. The problem was that he telegraphed it big time. Right before throwing it, he demonstrably and vigorously shook his head at a signal that was almost certainly calling for another knuckle curve. It was just like that scene in Bull Durham.

On another topic I have noticed that the game threads are consistently longer when the Sox lose this season, so maybe they are therapeutic.

Cora won’t do it, because the rest of the nerds who run the Red Sox, and analytics don’t tell him to do so.

May be something to that, Max. Like they say, misery loves company.
