It really hasn't been all that much fun watching McGuire , Pham, Story and Kike. If that is the best part , I would hate to see the worst.

It's your choice to feel like that.

I get the point you are trying to make, but that point just doesn’t matter to some as it does you. This year with this record is what matters to many.

Good thing baseball is not a democracy, where the majority wins.

No you don’t.

Even this years team was good. After a horrible 10-19 start, they made it back to 43-33. They didn’t, as you repeatedly claim, have that 33-14 run against the weaker AL West. They had it because they had a pitching staff that worked. What detailed them was that same staff - mostly the rotation - all getting injured at once.

The biggest lie in sports is “Everyone has injuries; that’s just an excuse.” Not all injuries are equal and certainly not all teams get hit equally. There’s a reason the Sox are one of how many teams in MLB with only 1 pitcher with 100 IP at this point in the season?

Are you talking the paying customers, or on here? Big difference.

No, I'm talking about how it's a good thing Sox baseball decisions aren't decided by what the majority of Sox Nation wants, sometimes in the heat of the moment- sometimes not.

At the moment it’s pretty painful to watch Raffy swing a bat.

It does, b ut when he comes up, I still enjoy wondering what he will do. Will he start snapping out of it with this AB?

I don't take the midset, "He sucks right now, so I hate this experience."

Your mindset is your choice. Fans can choose to look for the bad, and gripe and complain and throw blame, or they can look for the few good things and recognize hope in some players, despite what their current ERA or BA is.

For example, I am enjoying watching Bello pitch, despite his ERA over 5.

They made it back to a winning record by playing the bad, bad, bad West that you bought into. What happened when they got back to playing the Div teams again? Reality set back in, and here we are today with a losing record, and LAST PLACE in the Div.

They didn’t play all 47 games in that stretch against the west.

They only have 26 games scheduled against them this year.

And the bad, bad West as you keep calling it, is poised to send Houston (89-49) and Seattle (77-61) to the postseason. Boston is 10-3 against those two teams…

We have started 12 different pitchers and will likely end the season with just 1 starter having more than 23 starts and 2 over 22 (Pivetta and Hill.)

We've gotten almost 40 starts from Wink (14), Craw (12), Bello (7), Davis (3) and Seabold (3), as well as 13 forced pen starts by Whitlock (9) and Houck (4). That's 53 starts or 1/3 of the season, and we're not even done yet.

The pen injuries were plentiful, too. The Kike & Arroyo injuries only added to the affect.

I did not say Raffy sucks right now, but he does, and he should get just as much flak as JD, and Bogey has gotten. I’m not going to gripe about it, but the bad comes with the good. I just said it was painful to watch him swing a bat right now when I know he is a lot better than that. Bello is enjoying to watch, and just needs more consistency with that wild stretch.

Seattle was not playing well when the Sox played them, and the Angels were going through their long losing streak unlike how they are playing now.

So? Part of the reason they were not playing well, then, was because a sucky team like the Sox were beating them.

We've also beat teams that were playing well and lost to some that were playing well or crappy. That's the way a season goes.

Some teams seem to lose to s***** teams more than their share. Others the opposite or an expected mix.

The season is 162 games long, and most of the time, these things shake out.

We beat bad teams back then, and then we lost to bad teams, bad pitchers and bad everything. And, we lost to good teams- lots of them, thanks to our schedule.

Maybe we beat the M's because key players were hurt, and maybe teams beat us, because our key players were hurt.

Okay, I took "painful watching him play" as griping. My bad.

I, for one and as a paying customer, still look forward to his next AB.

Painful to watching meaning I know he’s a lot better hitter then what he looks like right now, and you can tell he’s been frustrated for some time now.

The Sox are 4-2 against the struggling Astros, who are a paltry 40 games over .500.

Apparently they played the Astros during the 6 games they were struggling…

He’s probably in pain. He probably needed more than 15 days on the IL…

Nobody has said he’s now dealing with any kind of injury. I think he’s just messed up so bad he doesn’t know how to get out of it. Hopefully one bomb will lead to another.

Yes they’ve had a couple of small spurts where they have played well against good teams, but the reality is their record against the Div, and their overall record, which adds up to a losing team with a losing record, and a last place finish in the Div.

Their good spurts typically coincided with good health.

They were playing well in May and June because they were a better team. To call it a lucky schedule because the team played nearly .700 baseball is just ignorant of how good and how bad baseball teams are.

I mean, for all this “back to reality” ******** you keep pushing, did you even realize the Sox are over .500 since their 10-19 start?

But - let me guess - the Sox could finish 81-81 and in last place, you’ll (emphatically) call them a last place team and never once refer to them as a .500 team..

Their winning spurts coincided with them playing under .500 teams.

Grasping at more straws, and worrying if a 500 team, which is last place in the Div will be called a 500 team, or a last place team. Really? This is hilarious. Come On Man!

Again - you missed the point..

I’ve caught everyone of your straws (points), and it’s still hilarious. You are trying to make something out of this years team that just isn’t there. They are a losing team, and the blame goes from top to bottom players, and management alike.

Well, you are keeping track of how many games under .500 we are, so I assume that means something to you in itself.

Just doing the daily Wild Card standings update that Moon started, or have we forgotten?

These guys should be first on Bloom's list of offseason acquisitions. Didn't he have a three-year waiting period for recruiting other Rays' employees when Tampa agreed to let the Sox hire him?

Time's up, get the people in place first for the rebuild... And Henry should be able to buy them all, since no exec salaries factor into the tax threshold!

I've been meaning to reply to this post.

This does seem like something to watch for.
