Not true.

He was not ranked by BA nor by MLB.com until after the trade.

BA had him at 86 pre-2020, 71 pre-2021.

MLB.com had him at 44 pre-2020, 49 pre-2021…

He sure is dropping fast over at soxprospects.com, but all prospects can't rise.

Some of Bloom's prospects are rising- some are falling. Most of the one's he traded for a while back have not risen all that quickly, if at all.

Wink moved up a bit, but his time in the bigs have not helped his outlook.

Seabold rose up a bit, and the same thing happened to him.

Wong has gone up and down but seems to be making a strong case to make the 26, next season.

German has steadily climbed the rankings list. Binelas rose and then fell. Hamilton fell. Koss, Wallace & Potts fell, but I'm not sure any were ever expected to do all that much.

The 3 low level prospects from the Beni trade look like a mixed bag. FValdez and Gambrell don't look promising, but there is a chance de la Rosa makes us forget about Beni.

Some of the recent pick-ups look promising by their 2022 numbers, but farm numbers are often deceiving.

Their current soxprospects rankings:

16. Enmanuel Valdez .958 in AA/AAA (more PA in AAA)

26. Wilyer Abreu .814 in AA

56. Corey Rosier .752 A+

57. Max Ferguson .718 in A/A+ (more in A)

I'm hopeful EValdez can maybe make an impact at DH or 2B, next season. German and Wong might fill key roles. Wink might be a long shot. Some of DD's kids should make an impact, too.

One would be hard pressed to find any one.in Boston defending anything Bloom has done

One discussion I heard the other day was if Bloom is the worst GM in baseball. I didn’t hear all the results, but I didn’t hear any atta boys for Bloom.

How is Valdez hitting at Worcester? Or should I say how s Valdez not hitting at Worcester?

Good trade? Lots of bad grades on the deal.

So?

Bad grades on a trade equate to neither wins nor losses.

Bottom line is the Sox had TWO options for Betts’ trades. Not three. Not 5. Not 29. Two. And neither option would have gotten a good grade.

Keeping Betts actually would have been worse. The 2020 team would have still been without pitching. (Sale didn’t have TJ because Mookie got traded.) And maybe finished a tad higher, but not much. Then Betts walks for draft pick comp and Mayer doesn’t fall to Boston.

And if Betts hits the open market, he can’t re-sign with Boston, because they would still be trying to reset. Plus they used his money on Bogaerts and Sale. Maybe he winds up in LA anyway. Or maybe, just maybe he does because the best offer puts him in pinstripes in the Bronx.

But, hey, John Tomase didn’t like the trade. The “D” from San Diego would be better…

I get your points, but it was still not a good trade.

It was the best possible option.

Unless you preferred Graterol…

Out of curiousity, what was the consensus about Bloom after 2021?

We’ve already gone over that on here. Go back, and read the post.

The thing is, saying Bloom sucks over and over again gets to be like a broken record after a while. Is it really a good way to spend one's time?

Beats burning incense at his shrine the way a certain unnamed poster and his acolyte do.

IMO, is there are 99-100% Bloom bashers and nobody even over 75-80% (maybe less) in support of all Bloom's moves, yet those who respect the overall job he's done are viewed as extreme.

Newsflash: minority is not the same as extreme.

You won't name names, because his name is "strawman."

He lives in a small world of being on here, and has no clue all the bashing Bloom gets out in the vast Regions of Red Sox Nation except When he went to Maine, and heard all that was on the local talk shows he didn’t like it at all, and those are the rule, and not the exception.

The problem is the loudest fans consist of two main groups: grumpy old guys, and grumpy middle-aged guys.

Just look at the makeup of this board. It's totally dominated by old guys. I'm one of them.

We have one female poster, Kimmi, who is Bloom's biggest supporter here.

We have one* young male poster, Thunder, who gets fed up with all the negativity.

*There may be a few other young guys that don't post as much.

Just seems to be the way it is.

Not if you belong to the extreme minority.

Don't be afraid to name names now, Nick. We're all internet tough guys here.

You two really do think alike. Same answer as above.

And you and Old Red and dgalehouse think alike. Let's make up a funny name for you three.

This is all playground stuff.

Looking at the standings every day, and seeing the Red Sox in last place with a losing record is not something I want to see either, so is defending Bloom with that being his record really a good way to spend one’s time?

If that's what floats your boat.

Well, see, it's the attacking that always comes first. You don't see anyone here start the day by saying "Well, I think Bloom is doing a bang-up job, don't you guys?"

Fine if you want to, but I haven’t called you any names. I think the Bashers came first, but of course someone on here is always bashing fans who don’t agree. Whiners, crybabies, and shallow just to name a few.

Wrong again. It’s looking at the standings that always come first for me.

Now Old Red, maybe you're misremembering the times you said "Bloom Jock Supporters"...

Here I was thinking they took pride in bashing Bloom and being called Bloom bashers.

My bad.

Yes, but that was after the constant whining about bashing that came first, and continues everyday. I’m not talking about you. Plus all the other names that fans are called that I have mentioned.
