Pipe dream implies I want it to happen. I don't.

"Believe it when you see it?" You did see it- 3 times under Henry.

We did have fire sales three in the last decade:

The Dodger dump

2014: we dumped almost our entire rotation and best pen piece (Lester, Lackey, Doubront, Peavy & Andrew Miller. We also traded Stephen Drew, Jonny Gomes and Kelly Johnson that summer.)

The 2020 deadline (Moreland, Workman & Hembree, Pillar, Osich) though nothing spectacular like Crawford, AGon & Beckett.

I seriously doubt it happens, but I believe I have seen it, often enough.

The point I was trying to make is that I don’t believe JH is as serious about the success of the Red Sox as he used to be. He’s shelled out millions to players that have turned out to be bad contracts with Sale being the latest one so far, and I don’t think he will do it as much anymore. I think the big telltale will be what happens in the coming days, and months with Bogey, and Raffy. When I said I’ll believe it when I see it I was referring to making a big trade, or a big FA signing.

Sale's injury certainly did nothing to get the front office excited about 2022...

The new name I heard on the talk shows this morning was Chris Frail.

Henry has gone 2-3 years without major spending, before. I know that does not mean he will follow the same pattern and spend big, again.

He might still be serious about success, but is looking for a different method to get there- a slow and steady approach without taking major long term risks, in which the vast majority of ours have been failures to varying degrees.

I'm skeptical, too, and next winter should be the major test.

How bad of a sign will it be if Bogey, and Raffy are not resigned? Unlike Mookie they both want to stay.

Could be real bad, unless we sign 2-3 top FAs to fill the gaps left by Bogey, JD, Kike and Eovaldi, next winter.

In 2021, it sure looked that way, but he had under 300 PAs.

He's better than Arroyo.

The problem is he got lumped in with Vlad Jr and Bo Bichette, 2 guys that project to be perennial all stars.

...and the genealogy.

Checked on Sale's injury with the Red Sox ' chief medical officer , Dr. Vinnie Boombatz. Reporter: " Doctor , any word on Sale's injury? " Dr. Boombatz: " Well , he has what we in the medical community call a stress fracture in the rib cage , which is a cage- like thing with ribs. Basically , it is caused by too much stress. Too much stress is not good." Reporter : " Any word on how long he will be out?" Dr. Boombatz:" Well, these things can be tricky. At this time , it is too soon to tell." Reporter: " Thank you , Doctor." Dr. Boombatz: " Glad to help. Any time."

He would have been better off lumped in with Travis Shaw…

Toronto is automatically better than Boston by planning to play its full team in every game; Sox still have players banned from Canada.

Here's a question: Does anyone know which Jays players, if any, are unvaxxed ? I'm not sure the vax % outside the U.S. is all that high.

Don't know the answer, but it's a great question. I would think Jays players are virtually forced to be vaxed.

Freedom's just another word for playoffs left to lose... (updated for MLB, apologies to Kris and Janis).

US 65%

Canada 81%

Except that a couple of the Jays young stars come from other places than Canada , and some may be personally adverse to vax in general. Doesn't really matter because , for the time being, NYC could be a similar No Play zone without your documents shown to the HP umpire

With what the Jays are doing and how potent that roster is, Bloom had better go make a splash. The division isn’t getting any easier and we all know the Yanks are willing to make the big roster moves to compete. We’re looking at 3rd place at this point! What can we do to save face and to get the fans excited and to know that Bloom will make the moves needed to keep us contending for the pennant?

From your finger tips to Hang’em Chaim’s ears…. Please welcome Derek Holland to the team!

Now the Yankees, rays and blue jays will know fear!

Visiting teams in NYC don’t have to be vaxxed, just home teams.

New York City logic: Visiting players don't have to be vaxed. Fans in attendance don't have to be vaxed. Home team players do have to be vaxed. Figure that one out.
