How about these K:BB ratios?

18:0 Walter (17 IP)

11:0 Pannone (9.2 IP)

8:0 Padron-Artilles (6.0 IP)

6:0 German (3.0 IP)

11:1 J Webb (4.1 IP)

10:1 Bello (5.0 IP)

19:6 DHern (11.2)

With DHern , I usually expect that colon to move one place to the left…

Not really. He has one of MLB's highest K;IP ratio in history.

19 Ks in about 12 IP is right in line with his career, and 6 BBs in 12 IP is about right, too.

Bello with 7 strike outs through four innings. No walks, the one hit he gave up was a meatball that he served up. Portland down 1-0 thus far!

We have a few pitchers with shocking K:BB ratios, so far!

Early season observation #1. Seems like there has been an organizational philosophy change in pitching this season. Maybe it is less nibbling and more of just straight going after batters. Mistakes be darned, get after it and have a short memory!

A second observation. Something has changed defensively with the catchers. I have not figured it out yet, it is affecting the pitchers effectiveness! We are not as passive defensively as last year.

Even if nothing has changed, early results are encouraging.

Bello done for the day. Five innings, two hits (both of them meatballs he served up) one walk and 8 strikeouts.

In his two starts, he has looked dominant!

Yes, too early to know, for sure, but the numbers don't seem to show anything all that exciting, except the K-rate.

2018-2022

26.3 K% (best)

.228 BA against (best)

10.2 BB% (second worst)

16.1 K-BB% (Tied second best)

1,30 WHIP (second best)

101 ERA- (second worst)

3.96 xFIP (second best)

Jimenez with his second tater of the season.

This kid can field.

If his bat improves, we might see something special, someday.

Very rare to see him cheated out of any swings in his at bats,

What is a tater app?

I thought you could tell me.

Like an App on your phone that notifies you every time a Sox minor leaguer hits a tater.

Bello finally walked his first and only batter, this season and took a tough loss.

5 IP

2 ER

2 H (both HRs)

1 BB

8 K

Hamilton went 3 for 4.

Woo got shelled 19-11. Pannone blew up his good stats by allowing 9 hits and 7 runs in 4 IP. Holland got shelled. Maybe I should just list those who didn't get shelled: cue crickets.

Stewart hit a granny.

Cordero 2-5 w 2B

Casas 2-4 w 2B & BB

Downs 2-5

Duran 1-4 w 3 Ks

Greenville won 10-9 as Padron-Artlies just about duplicated Pannone's numbers.

Lugo, Yorke, McDonough & Groshams with 2 hits each. Groshams & Jimenez with a taters.

My tech guys at work created a program for me. I had offered 10k to the guy who could make it happen. It took four of them less than a day to do it.

Been working fairly well thus far. Most of the times it picks up the opponents taters as well as ours, which is how I knew bello was serving up meatballs.

Now inquiring Talksox minds want to know if you paid those 4 guys $2,500 each. :D

Darwinzon is so good in the minors he only needed two strikes apiece to K two guys!

(replays show the ump called automatic strikes on both batters for not getting back in the box in time; new AAA rule, and I love it)

Curious why soxprospects, after years of having Noah Song ranked on their list, no longer have him listed.

Did something change with his status?

Per the last podcast, they stated that it was no longer fair to have him listed. Nobody knows if he'll ever play or if he's even thrown a ball the last few years. Maybe he comes back throwing like he did in Lowell? Maybe he comes back with lesser velocity? Maybe he never comes back? It's been so long that they can't rank him.

Not really the Song we wanted to hear.

Makes sense, but I'm not sue one more year without seeing him throw changed much.

Then maybe you should complain to them rather than to me? I don't make those rankings.
