Cora is still working on who will go later today.

Gray is a good prospect but very beatable.

Will Cora dare to through that Wednesday night beer league softball OF out there again?!?

ANGELS win over the Mariners Friday night, so we are one up on M's and BJs and one back from NYY. Just sweep the Nats and see what happens.

What a shame.

If a miracle occurred and the SOX reached the WS, wouldn't it be great to play the Cards again? The Cards may not need a miracle to reach the WS.

The way it looks, the Cards would need to do the following to get to the WS:

1) Beat the 104+ wins Dodgers in LA in the WC game.

2) Beat the 106+ wins Giants in the NLDS.

Pretty close to a miracle.

92 wins will get the SOX in the PO's, just like it did in '67.

And is one win short of the 2016 and 2017 seasons…

So, like me, you aren't into the whole "playoffs are a crapshoot" thing.

MLB.com lists Houck as today's starter. The Sox' season may ride on which 4 or 5 relievers will pitch the final 5 innings...

Wouldn't it be nice if our offense took some of that pressure off...

One big question is Sale. Using him, today, would be on short rest, but we are in a near elimination game mode. We could "save" him to finish off Eovaldi's game, tomorrow, and even hope against hope that he wouldn't be needed tomorrow and could start the WC game.

Whitlock is apparently ready, but he's been out a while, so I'm not sure you throw him into a high leverage spot, first game back. The problem with that is who else gives us more confidence?

Perhaps surprisingly, Brasier has been our go-to guy, but he has pitched 3 straight nights. The pitch counts have been rather low, so maybe we go to him in a bad pinch. (22, 4 & 10 pitches in last 2 games) Richards willlikely get another look, despite his last 3 games being piss-poor. (1.1IP 1 ER, 1.1 IP 2 ER, 1.0 IP 2 ER)

My guess is we hope for 5 IP from Houck but will get 3-4. We'll see DHern, Davis, Sawamura and maybe Perez or Bazardo. The highest leverage moments will be handed to Brasier for a batter or two, Ottavino and Richards, unless they just throw caution to the wind and try to get 2-4 innings from Sale out of the pen.

It might depend if we are up 2-1 or 8-1 or down 2-1 or 4-1.

Things might get real interesting, today!

Big win by the Angels, yesterday and a big reminder that the teams we are down to the wire with are all flawed and teetering on elimination, too.

It's beyond time the offense just busted out the bats and jumped to 8 runs in 3 innings . Today may be the day......or not. 23 runs in the last 7 games going 2-5,

Win today and game 163, at a minimum, is assured.

Trust me , from local experience in SoCal, anytime you get a key win from the Angels is a gift from God him/herself !

Keep an eye on the LAA closer (?) Raisel Iglesias, with 34 saves on a 76 win team. He is a low profile FA this winter. Not a true stud but could fit in the BP, maybe at a reasonable 2 year contract.

I like R Iglesias, but I'm not sure he will slide under anyone's radar. He'll be costly, and I am generally against paying high for RP'ers.

Speaking of BP's, in the course of a great win last night two keys in our BP managed to give up HR, fortunately solo shots. Barnes and Ottovino are strange birds .

There should be no question about Sale. If he’s not going today then he starts tomorrow. Who said EO was starting tomorrow?

Rays are starting a rookie. Baz. Shane Baz

He's their #1 prospect.

They got him with Galsnow and Meadows for Archer.

Funny. I said "Maybe don't pitch Sale on Saturday," and you screamed "all hands on deck!"

You are all over the map.

Talk about a lopsided trade lol.

But it is exactly the type of trade many Sox fans would roast our GM for making. Trading an established solid pitcher for prospects while being a top competitor. Same with Snell and others.

I’m not all over the map on Sale, and I would have started him today. Time to take the the kiddie off on him, so what I said was if he doesn’t go today then he starts Sun. Like I asked before who said EO was starting Sun?
