You are a pipe dream for the LSD-riddled program planners at the Discovery Channel family of networks…

It's true. And it's incredible how much of that stuff they produce for me!

The Curse of Oak Island is hilarious though. I think they're going to get 10 seasons out of it.

Is 90 Day Fiancé a CIA Psyop? Yes. Is it still enjoyable? Sometimes.

It is comical that they thought they could find this alleged treasure that people have been looking for for over 300 years…

I wonder if net operating income includes or excludes the national tv deals.

From the summary of the methodology at the bottom of the Forbes article:

Revenue and operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) are for the 2021 season and are net of revenue sharing, competitive balance taxes and stadium revenue used for debt service. Ownership stakes in regional sports networks, as well as related profits or losses, are excluded from our valuations and operating results, as are investments in real estate and other businesses.

The summary has a link to more details on methodology.

So there was no Rule 5 Draft this year, I just read.

Despite the success of Whitlock, the Rule 5 draft is still really not a good way to acquire players. In most cases, it gives the dual disadvantage of losing both a year of development with a year of control…

Is it good for the players though?

I think it is, but it's not a great way to help them.

Some players get stuck in a system, and a change of scenery gives them more opportunities.

Some just get stuck on the ML roster and get little playing time.

Financially, sure. Arausz probably wouldn’t even be making the MLBminimum if not for Rule 5. At least not for parts of the last 2 years.

But it rarely works out for teams selecting, and probably hinders more players than it helps at the actual baseball aspect of it all…

So how many pitchers will the Sox open the season with?

I’m assuming 15, at least while the 28 man roster is in effect.

However, right now I still only see 2 obvious bench players (Arroyo, Plawecki). Travis Shaw might be able to snag a third spot. But if not, who? And who for the other spot? A 16th pitcher? Is that even legal?

Now that Free Games are over, signed up for MLB package.

I can't think of a better deal on this earth.

I can watch major league games for $120.

Rossario was claimed by the Yankees and assigned to AA.

After claiming Kyle Taylor off waivers on Tuesday, the Sox released him on Thursday, so they could claim Ralph Garze from the Twins.

(Tyler was claimed by the Padres.)

Just curious, but does anybody have any data on Pedro Martinez spin rates from his great career?

His change up was awesome, but no, I don't know if anyone has that info.

Will this be Cora's main go-to line-up?

1. Kike CF

2. Devers 3B

3. Bogey SS

4. Story 2B

5. JD DH

6. Verdugo LF

7. Dalbec 1B

8. Vaz C

9. JBJ RF

Or, will Story bat 2nd and Devers 3rd or 4th?

Regardless the lineup JD has to bat 5th.

Said that, I guess Story will hit 4th but in my book should leadoff.

Why does JD have to bat 5th?

Story can't bat right before Devers and steal, or they'll just walk Raffy. Then again, Cora won't want to bat three righties in a row, so I can see Verdugo hitting 5th in front of JD or more likely, Story, who can run in front of Dalbec, Vaz and JBJ; no one's pitching around those three.

The Red Sox stole 40 bases last year, which tied them with Whit Merrifield. I’m not so sure they’ll build a lineup around Story’s attempts to steal…

I can see Cora flipping Verdugo & Dalbec in the 6-7 slots depending on a lefty or righty starter.

He might also flip Devers and Bogey in the same manner.

Cora said one area they need to improve upon is speed and running the bases. Somehow, I don't think that means the Sox are going to make guys like JD run the hills in full pads at the end of every practice in Florida.

No, but they might think about using it to slightly improve our base running potential.

I'm not in favor of batting Devers 3rd, but this lineup might work better:

1. Story

2. Bogey

3. Devers

4. JD

5. Kike

6. Verdugo

7. Dalbec

8. Vaz

9. JBJ

There are a lot of possibilities. I think most if not all agree the bottom 4 are pretty much etched in stone with Verdugo-Dalbec-Vazquez-Bradley, at least vs RHP. The top 5 spots offer numerous acceptable options with varying pros and cons…

I think you are right, but if Cora wasn't so stuck on Kike as the leadoff, one could argue Verdugo should be in the top 5 vs RHPs over Kike and to a far lessser extent, Story.

2021 v RHPs (career)

.894 Verdugo (.847)

.744 Kike (.690)

.735 Story (.809)

By the methodology, one might argue Dalbec could crack the top 5 vs LHPs:

career

.902 Dalbec

.826 Kike

(Note: I would not place Dalbec ahead of Kike, unless he's been doing much better over a good chunk of 2022.)

Maybe he'll trade for Renfroe at the deadline.
