Well don’t forget JBJ is currently on a contract written by another GM…

That contract was notably written BEFORE he had a -0.8 fWAR season with a 35 WRC+.

True, but also after putting up a 93 OPS+ in his previous 4 seasons.

it doesn't smell like a move that bloom would have taken bringing JBJ back at that cost but if he is willing to do that than I would think that anything is possible when looking at Devers, Bogaerts, and Story.

Notin’s 28 Man Roster

C: Vazquez, Plawecki, Wong (Wong has experience at C, 2b, 3b and OF. Keeping him allows for pinch hitting for a catcher and still having an option due to injury.)

INF: Dalbec, Story, Bogaerts, Devers, Arroyo, Shaw

OF: Verdugo, E Hernandez, Bradley, Martinez

SP: Eovaldi, Pivetta, Hill, Wacha, Houck

BP: Whitlock, Barnes, Brasier, Sawamura, Diekman, D Hernandez, Strahm, Davis, Robles, Taylor

Sale to 60 day IL. Still need to DFA one player…

Bazardo or Garza?

Valdez or Arauz

Both have an option.

I could see Arausz over Wong. Not sure Valdez or Bazardo make sense over Robles…

I predict they will have a Z in their last name.

Lots of Zs to work with.

It won't be Vaz, Mart'z, D Hern'z or Valdez.

Bazardo or Graza is my bet.

Thought I saw that Wong was already optioned?

Cora said one area they need to improve upon is speed and running the bases. Somehow, I don't think that means the Sox are going to make guys like JD run the hills in full pads at the end of every practice in Florida.

You alluded to this in your previous post - base stealers are more valuable in front of singles hitters. If we're looking to improve run production via the steal, Story would do more good hitting after the big boppers.

There are a lot of possibilities. I think most if not all agree the bottom 4 are pretty much etched in stone with Verdugo-Dalbec-Vazquez-Bradley, at least vs RHP. The top 5 spots offer numerous acceptable options with varying pros and cons…

I tend to argue batting line up as much as others, especially when Cora put Kike in the leadoff spot last year, but it bears repeating that it really just doesn't make that much difference. The pros of putting a batter in a certain spot is mostly offset by the cons of not having him elsewhere.

Base stealers arent very valuable at all when someone like Chaim Bloom......or most of baseballs new upstart GM's, FOM's, CFO's are running the team.

I'm 100% with you (or with the upstart GMs). I have said for years that base stealing is overrated. Speed is not overrated, however.

Any moves made, today?

Yesterday:

Optioned Ronaldo Hernández, Connor Wong, and Jarren Duran to Worcester

Reassigned Roldani Baldwin, Kole Cottam, Ryan Fitzgerald, Roberto Ramos, Silvino Bracho, Taylor Cole, Michael Feliz, Darin Gillies, Geoff Hartlieb, and Zack Kelly to minor league camp

Regardless the lineup JD has to bat 5th.

Said that, I guess Story will hit 4th but in my book should leadoff.

He is not a 1-4 bat anymore in may book, plus we have better 1-4 options right now.

Are they more valuable than pitching, hitting and fielding?

He was second on the team in OPS last year.

The 5 slot is actually a highly valued slot- more so than #3 or #4.

Yep. I don't think that's what iortiz means, though.

Sometimes, it's hard to know.

They should be the faves to win the east, IMO.

Now you're mixing up posts about JD and the Jays.

Nope, moon says JD and the Sox should be faves to win the East, IHO.

Because of April/March. He had 4 so-so months and showing clearly, that he is declining.

He is not an elite 3-4 bat anymore.

May - Oct:

806 OPS, 111 WRC+

He was Anthony Rizzo for the remainder of the season. Ok?
