Gods news today: arroyo is swinging the bay really well. The more I see of Whitlock and bastardo, the more I like their stuff!

Bad news today; our 2020 pitchers are looking like our 2020 pitchers.

Larry, your recaps have been pretty good so far, but this comment is a puzzler. The only one of our 2020 pitchers who pitched today was Eovaldi, and he pitched well in 2020.

I look at the 2020 pitchers as a group.

Our pitching has generally been pretty good over the last 5 games, so that's encouraging. Eovaldi had a bad 4th inning today, but that's not a big deal.

Good news today: I like pivetta’s stuff when he has control. Duran legs out a triple. Man he is fast!

Bad news today sigimura having problems finding the plate, but he has some serious movement on his pitches.

Sawamura has a reputation of being wild. He's probably most similar to Joe Kelly in that regards (except he has better movement).

I think Cora is doing to "gut feel" thing with Hernandez. Nothing in his past says he should be hitting leadoff, but I would not be surprised if the role was not his to lose...

@PeteAbe

Pablo Sandoval tried to score from first on a two-out double and was out by 10 feet, much to the delight of the crowd at Fort Myers.

Based on what we have seen so far, including today, who will be the utility players breaking Spring Training with the Sox? I assume Codero will not be ready.

Gonzalez

Arroyo

Chavis

That is my guess but guys better produce as Codero, Duran, Munoz, Arauz and Downs are all potential replacement candidates.

Good news today: dalbec with a stolen base? What! Duran and Gettys with outfield assists.

Bad news today: houck’s control can disappear inning to inning or batter to batter or even pitch to pitch!

Inning to inning ain't great. Batter to batter or pitch to pitch...kind of happens to the best of 'em.

That has always been the case. It's why he's been tagged as a bullpen arm in most projections.

Bogaerts’ first game at short. This could be your opening day lineup:

Red Sox vs Twins:

Hernández 2B,

Verdugo CF,

Martinez DH,

Bogaerts SS,

Devers 3B,

Renfroe RF,

Gonzalez LF,

Vázquez C,

Dalbec 1B,

Rodriguez P

Plawecki is a given. So he probably bumps Chavis to Worcester...

If they go with 3 bench players, and no on starts the year on the IL, Chavis is the only one with an option remaining.

It's not like having him start the season in Worcester means he is cut from the team and gone forever. If he is finally hitting well, doesn't it make sense to have him someplace where he can try to keep up the pace?

AAA season doesn't start until May. If you want him to keep hitting, he needs to be in BOS not WOO.

Eduardo Rodriguez today: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K

Unless there is an injury, how many at bats do you think Chavis will get in April in Boston? Yes, it will be more than 0. But it might be less than 15.
