Sawamura sounds interesting for sure. I do share the questions of others here. Some guys with high ceilings are signing for peanuts. Kinda perplexed as to why the Sox aren’t in on them

"Peanuts" salaries can still add up enough to put you over the tax threshold.

I knid of expected several bargain basement moves by Bloom.

Maybe some are in the works, but too many will put us over the tax line, unless we trade salary....not likely after a deal like Ottavino's.

February 10th and Jake Odorizzi, James Paxton and Taijuan Walker are still without jobs....

Maybe they need to pick themselves up by their bootstraps... err stirrups.

@PeteAbe

Per #RedSox: Billy Conigliaro, passed away today at the age of 73. The OF from Revere appeared in 347 MLB games—including 247 with the Red Sox from 1969-71—and won a World Series title with the 1973 Oakland A’s.

That is sad to hear. RiP.

each of them is damaged goods.

No more so than Kluber, Richards, Yates, Wainwright, Desclafini, Smyly and a slew of other signed pitchers...

Don't forget Taillon.

Schrodinger's Rotation: a starting rotation that could be either decimated by injury or healthy and fine. Since we don't know which case it'll be, we'll assume that it's both. Edited by mvp 78

IP since 2018:

486 Cole

333 ERod (0 last year)

313 Perez

305 Sale (0 last year)

273 Pivetta

246 Kluber (37 last 2 years)

229 German (0 last year)

228 Taillon (0 last year)

227 Eovaldi

213 Severino (0 last year)

136 Richards

75 Montgomery

(244 Houck minors & majors)

(234 M King minors & majors)

(220 D Garcia minors & majors)

Not that this is any indicator of how many IP anyone throws in 2021, but we do know Sla eand Severino will start the year on an extended IL.

Lots of zero IP, last year.

Jed Lowrie signs minor league deal with A's.

In lesser news, Didi G signs with Phillies for $28M/2 with deferrals.

I think we're really close to Ben just saying he's done. Really no other rumors out there. Sox have shown interest in JBJ, but he's not coming back.

Sawamura is a real chance.

I still think we sign Pillar or Marisnick.

Ben? I think you are suffering from PTBD.

Sox have "backed away" from certain FA candidates like JBJ and Rich Hill. Seems like they are wrapping most of it up?

I've had to edit so many posts for calling Bloom: Ben and for calling Bobby Dalbec: Brian Dalbec (thanks to Brian Daubach).

This is my mid life crisis post. Please send help.

That's when he is most likely to strike - when we least expect it.

Bloom is not done yet.

The Red Sox “appear on the cusp of” a deal with Sawamura, writes Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. Sankei Sports reports it will be a two-year, $2.4MM deal with additional incentives available, according to Speier.
