Trading Beni for pitching prospects strengthens our minors and also reduced our payroll by $6.6Mil per year..

Just to clarify, his actual 2021 salary is $6.6Mil, but the tax hit is $5Mil. It was 2 years for $10Mil, his 2020 salary was $3.4Mil.

It would be shocking if Bloom does nothing before the season but make minor moves like we've seen so far.

I'm thinking that once Kluber signs, all the dominoes start to fall.

He may not be the very next big signing.

God I hope not.

It took the guy five weeks just to get on a mound and throw a few pitches. Think he is going to mull through 15-20 offers faster than that?

This whole offseason hasn’t been enlightening. MLB Hot stove used to be great. Then again, lots of things that used to be great aren’t anymore. Sign of the times I guess

Maybe we just need to reset our clocks and start thinking of Hot Stove as being January and February not December and early January.

SP: Odorizzi

SP: Kluber

RP: Hand

2B/OF: E Hernandez

4thOF: Marisnik

Trade Beni for RP Lopez

If you get good health from Odorizzi/Kluber/Sale/Erod? 60/40

I think this team will look more like a 25/75 chance of making the playoffs. The offense will carry this team. If the bullpen can be average and the starting pitching isn't a disaster, they'll be in contention in mid September.

If the season were starting tomorrow it would be a 5/95 chance at making the playoffs.

What if we added Ozuna instead of Marisnik?

1. Bogey SS

2. Verdugo CF

3. Ozuna LF

4. Devers 3B

5. JD DH

6. Dalbec 1B

7. Renfroe RF

8. Vaz C

9. Hernandez 2B

Bench: Plawecki, Arroyo, Chavis

SP: Sale, Eovaldi, ERod, Odorizzi, Kluber, Pivetta

RP: Hand, Lopez, Barnes, Brasier, DHern, Houck, Taylor, Brice, Whitlock

Maybe 70/30, but only because of the question marks in the rotation. If I knew ERod would be healthy, I'd mark them in as a WC team.

What is the fascination with Jake Marisnick? He topped a .700 OPS one time in his career and needed to cheat to do it. The Sox would be better off with Albert Almora or Kevin Pillar...

With a lot of snow outs...

I was actually thinking both -- in the "flurry" after they trade Beni, of course.

Any below-average team could use another above-average bat and above-average glove...

Cheap, so more money for pitching.

Defense, defense, defense.

That's 4 reasons.

There are others that fit his mold. I don't know why I always say him.

Do you like Billy Hamilton better?

Yes, just signing Ozuna and trading Beni would leave a hole at 4th OF'er.

Both would be better, and Marisnik may cost just a hair above min wage.

I think I'd rather get COVID than have Billy Hamilton be the starting CFer.

So, we both agree on Marisnik?

(See how I turned that on you?)

Albert Almora is a terrific defensive outfielder as well. As is Pillar...

Okay, I'll start saying Almora.

Pillar will cost more than either- maybe as much as a decent RP'er would cost.

I have never been a fan of the offseason, but this one is really the pits.

I believe we will see a Red Sox move by the end of next week. Beni is hanging out there and the Sox have talks on going in several areas.

By all accounts, the Sox have been very active behind the scenes, probably the most active team in MLB. Something's brewing.... I don't know how quickly we'll see some moves, but I do get the feeling that we will see some moves in the near future.

I am torn on trading Beni.

An MLB.com website lists Alex Vedugo as the fourth-best centerfielder in baseball:

... even though last year Verdugo played only eight of his 422 outfield innings in center.

Sox PR sending out signals that they aren’t signing another OF this offseason.
