Players in MLB don’t crowd around the ball like in other sports. It’s the game most conducive to social distancing.

But they might need robot fans...

If you're only talking about team sports.

It's true that in baseball the players don't come in close contact throughout the game. But it does happen several times a game, mainly on the base paths. Conferences on the mound would have to be scrapped, presumably.

Mlb.would have to.ban players spitting. Baseball players spit constantly. The union would probably grieve. LOL

Um, they are doing this with 30 MLBers right now.

Only if they are each controlled by a current MLB player.

They are getting ready to do that, with an MLB The Show league between 30 players, one from each team.

E-Rod is our representative. Nibbling in The Show is actually the way to do it, so he should do pretty well. Just keep hitting the corners

Hey, does anyone know what's due to happen with tickets for individual games? We were due to head over from Ireland for the game on Sun 19th April. Is there a way of getting a refund or credit to use when we're over again? Any help appreciated.

After postponing games indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic, teams from the NBA, NHL and major league baseball are effectively keeping the money of customers who bought tickets to those games. Instead of giving cash refunds, these businesses have operated under their normal ticket policies for postponed or rained-out games – holding the money as credit to be used whenever their games resume.

Wow, so in the game he goes right at hitters. Imagine that

Go figure, huh?

I wonder if he's covering 1st base.

I wonder how long that credit is good for. Not that I bought a ticket, but for this person coming from Ireland, rescheduling a trip might not be that easy.

IIRC I got a notification from the Sox that for Season Ticket holders they intend to credit any unused tickets toward next year's season tickets. For single game tickets they are going to honor the ticket purchased as the ticket for the designated game played later. However, anyone whom that will create a hardship for should contact the ticket office.

My interpretation of that is that they're willing to refund the money, but you have to contact them first.

I know this has nothing to do with the stoppage, but it just drives me insane: "coming this season. Rusney Castillo, trapped in Triple A, is due $14.2 million"

Castillo's contract has to go down to almost the biggest waste of money ever to a player--Crawford's contract was a joke and what he accomplished as a Sox was terrible, Pablo too, but at least they were in the big leagues. What's amazing about Castillo is he has already been paid 72.5 million for what amounts to 300plus MLB at bats. And even more crazy is the last time I was at Fenway was in 2015 and he had the only RBI hit in a 1-0 win over Minnesota. Five years ago and he's barely touched the big league roster after that season. Disgusting, terrible contract, and an embarrassment of riches for a kid who never deserved that kind of money just because he was "coveted." Then you think about Betts, Lester, Beltre and guys who they could have actually spent money on and then I hear the oh, but the Sox needed to dump the money..because of s*** moves like that one. Sad.

To heap on the irony, I’ve always suspected that a big part of the reason they went after Castillo was due to the inability of Jackie Bradley to hit at that stage of his career.

Of course, Castillo’s biggest problem was Dombrowski never liked him. While most definitely would have made an MLB team and possibly started. There are plenty of worse outfielders in MLB...

It’s a terrible policy. They should refund that money now.

It is a terrible policy if you could only get a credit. Based on what Dewey posted, they will refund the money if you ask for it. I'm guessing some of the people who live close by would just as soon get the credit.

No kidding. It's been hard not having baseball to watch, but we'll get there. Sooner or later.

They are not playing baseball in Taiwan.

I agree. As a matter of comparison, a couple of years ago a ST game was rained out and the ticket money for that game was immediately returned to my credit card.

I can say this for sure... If they decide to hold more ST games and then try to make the March tickets valid for the later games with no refunds available I'm going to be a very unhappy camper!

He’s interpreting it that way. It doesn’t mean they’ll refund the ticket.

Teams aren't playing, so should game tickets be refunded?

With fans facing economic hardship due to COVID-19 why are #MLB teams and #StubHub not making cash refunds to fans that have ask for them?
