If the season is going nowhere anyway, to me the question here is "why not?"

Maybe to set the $10 million aside for 2021 when it could be put to more important use?

Of course it didn't. Why would any manager or GM want that headache regardless of where they are in the standings?..The answer they don't. Puig is a horrible role model for up and coming players. Any team he plays for is asking for trouble. Puig brings nothing to the table but problems.

Belle was also a borderline in other ways as well.

40th in JAWS for LF behind players like Brian Downing, George Foster and Matt Holiday.

What was wrong with Brian Downing? He was a pretty underappreciated player with possibly the most bizarre batting stance in MLB history...

I wasn' t referring to baseball when I said he was borderline in other ways.

Generally an *******. Ty Cobb is in.

Cheater. Gaylord Perry is in.

Hated the media. Ted Williams is in.

A recent poll showed that 72% of people polled would not attend a sporting event until a vaccine is developed. Some of those polled were not big sports fans and would not attend games regardless of the situation. After removing the non-sports fans, that number drops to 61%.

I'd absolutely say in a poll I am not going until a vaccine is developed.

But if games were played in front of 5-10,000 fans and social distancing was easy, I'd attend a game...

What if all the stadiums were retrofitted with individual pods for fans to sit in like the Jetsons?

If there are no reported cases for several weeks then I would probably go.

Major League Baseball, assessing myriad proposals, has discussed a radical plan that would eliminate the traditional American and National Leagues for 2020, a high-ranking official told USA TODAY Sports, and realign all six divisions for an abbreviated season.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the proposal is one of several being discussed.

The plan would have all 30 teams returning to their spring training sites in Florida and Arizona, playing regular-season games only in those two states and without fans in an effort to reduce travel and minimize risks in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The divisions would be realigned based on the geography of their spring training homes.

Better than the all AZ idea.

I would definitely be in that 61%.

Ruh roh!

Let me sit in one of those sky boxes by myself and I'd be good.

There would still be the issue of keeping the players under quarantine and away from their families for 4 months or longer.

The families can go with them, but they are all quarantined and can't leave MLB facilities. AND robot umps.

That could work with the families.

LOL about robot umps. COVID-19 might be the best argument there is in favor of robot umps!

@ChrisCotillo

In this scenario, the Red Sox could have the Twins, Braves, Rays and Orioles in their division. That is.... stacked at the top.

Only if they are each controlled by a current MLB player.
