I agree there’s nothing to see here.

Not only is Castillo’s date pre-determined, but the main goals of spring training are to shake off the rust and to not get hurt. Some players view it as a tryout and work a little harder, hoping to impress, but the reality is there might be one or two roster or lineup spots actually in question. And for most players, a good or bad spring training decides nothing...

Chavis struggling a bit with 6K's and only 2 hits in 12 AB's.. But then there's this J Martinez guy who is also 2 for 12 with 5K's. No chance for either of these guys.

Also thanks to Valdez, Reyes and Lau for eating up 4 innings of ST , allowing only 10 runs. The AA field is way over behind left field guys. Meanwhile Ryan Weber spinning the magic of a slow curve , but more importantly showing that he can throw a lot of strikes. They'll get hit by real lineups but the guy is trying to earn a spot as an opener, or middle long relief.

Castillo = not a Dirt Dog

He should have expected to be able to go for the little league inside the park HR.

we may see a regression from JDM this season due to #Beltranmethodgate

Then he won’t opt out.

Martinez has a good enough history that any regression is just due to getting older. He didn’t annihilate baseballs in Arizona like a Division 1 college player facing Little League pitching because of his future manager...

i just dont think he will have the same access to video in-game. apparently he spends alot of time reviewing every pitch/swing against him and makes mental notes/adjustments. not sure he will feel as comfortable doing it this year.

The MLB can ban tablets, but everyone owns phones, and will find ways to sneak a peek. Even if the league stations narks in dugouts and bullpens like proctors of exams, the students will view cells hidden in stirrup socks in bathroom stalls... or may even have a classmate flashing vid from a nearby box seat or bleacher seat.

JD's ABs have looked awful, but that is normal for him in ST. I watched him take BP a couple of times and he is working on hitting everything to the right side.

Talking about Martin Perez as a stopgapper in the rotation. Don't know if Chatham's error really upset him but he couldn't shut it down and recover. Not very knowledgeable on Bandy, but my guess is he scores low on the baseball Wunderlich test. Still pO'ed at Sale.

About 20 minutes later. Not one Red Sox player(?) on the field in the 7th or 8 th inning against the Yankees had the least interest in being there or any chance of impressing RR or coaches. Their route to Boston will be as a tourist.

Not a lot of mental toughness shown by Perez today!

Bandy is the greatest player in MLB history named Jett. Or one of them anyway. He’s on the list...

Who cares?

Perez just needs to get loose, shake off some rust, and not get hurt. Why do people think he needs to shine in a spring training game? He could give up home runs to the first 8 hitters he faced and he would still make the team and collect his $6mill salary. He’s not pitching for anything except practice...

I strongly dislike the Hang Em moniker.

My reluctant prediction is you're going to see a redux of Rent-a-Wreck.
