That is what everyone wants. By competitive, I hope you mean make the playoffs because two or three more years with no playoffs isn't going to sit well with Sox Nation. I'd be happy if they could get rid of Price and his whiny attitude.

Red Sox fans have stuck with the club even though the Sox failed to advance to the postseason as often as they advanced this decade.

Two World Series titles helped.

Epstein, Cherington, Dombrowski, Bloom

One of these things is not like the other.

One of these things doesn't belong.

Can you guess which one is not like the other,

Before the time I finish my song?

Right now the oddball is Bloom, the only one who never won a World Series in Boston. What’s taking this schmuck so long?

OTOH he hasn't f**ked anything up yet.

I wonder if he truly realizes what kind of nutjob fanbase he has scrutinizing him now.

The same ones who called Theo Epstein Boy Genius, Boy Blunder, Gorilla Suit, Inepstein, Epstink and the like.

On the call today with Bloom and Sam Kennedy, one of the fans asked about the organization's plan with regard to Mookie. Kennedy said that they have reached out to Mookie and his agent to let them know that they very much want to keep Mookie on the Red Sox long term. That and a Charlie card will get you on the T.

Seems to me there's not much more that they can do. They've tried talking extension with him a few times and he's not interested; he is going to test the FA market. The only way he's playing 81 games at Fenway in 2021 is if the Sox have the highest offer after next season.

It looks more and more like that way, but hey, maybe we do offer him the most.

I do think there is a slight chance he takes a little less to play in Boston but not significantly less.

You gotta like winning, and the Sox do a lot of celebrating.

I totally agree with that. My biggest comfort comes from the fact that I felt the same way about Xander Bogaerts...

I will be participating in a season ticket holder Q&A session with Bloom at 12:30 today. Is there anything that you think I should ask him?

dang just saw this or would have had you ask C-BOOM if he thinks mrs john henry is hot....

If that's what it comes down to, I'd be more confident... but I have a nagging feeling it may also be about location, location, location.

When he winds up in some god forsaken backwater for the most money, you will have your answer.

And this is what I simply don't get.

There are some things more important than making the most money.

But which major league cities that could afford Mookie's contract do you consider god forsaken backwaters?

I don't know who can afford to sign Mookie, but a similar example is Cano signing with the Mariners.

Yes, I suppose Seattle fits that description. ;)

Yeah a lot of those hillbilly burgs do pay top dollar for MLB free agents.

Even if he opts out, he still might be back in Boston. Name another large market team in need of a DH...

I believe he was talking about Mookie.

For what it's worth, Seattle paid $140 million (including $20 million to the Mets) for five years of Robinson Cano, who posted 20.7 fWAR, valued at $163.7 million, with the Mariners.

In the trade of Cano, the Mariners took on the $26 million remaining on Jay Bruce's contract and the $8.5 million remaining on the contract of Anthony Swarzak.

Seattle also gave up Edwin Diaz who, according to one website, has a current surplus value of $13.4 million:

In return, the Mariners received two current Top 100 prospects: Jarred Kelenic, now with a surplus value of $64.8 million, and Justin Dunn, now with a surplus value of $16.6 million.

If CB does anything he needs to fix the Sox ability to draft and groom their own starting pitching. Sox wouldn’t be in the mess they are in if they could do that.

Reportedly, this is one of Bloom's specialties.
