I still think Beni will be fine, but as I said at the start of the season, I never understood why Beni and Betts swapped places. I think there was something going on in Beni's head, he was something crazy like 3-39 in the 1st inning of games batting leadoff.

If Beni can get back what I think he could get back in a trade, I wouldn't mind dealing him. Beni to Orioles for Mancini, Villar and a prospect?

Why the hell would the Orioles do that?

The Sox have resisted trading Benintendi in multiple trades, including the deal for Sale. I doubt they unload in any deal unless it’s some sort of blockbuster. And even then, they’ll be pushing Chavis first...

You guys are all nuts. Its June 3rd and you want to sell the whole team because what? We are 30-29? You guys know this is baseball right? The Dodgers were 28-30 at this time last year, and I think they played in the WS? Relax folks. Baseball is hard. I yell and cuss, and throw things with the best of them when the boys aren't playing well, but at the end of the day, we have a very good ball club. Bullpen has been frustrating for sure, and we could probably use another arm there, but talking about trading away all your good position players for one pitcher is insane. It's hilarious that all the fair-weather fans show up when we aren't 59-0.

Yanks are going to bring their stars back go into a big slump, and it will be too late to get their chemistry back.

Rays are the Rays great young talent, but wont spend, to get them over the top.

Sox will start beating on the teams they should beat, (and theirs many), and get right back into this thing.

There are some guys they could move, but I'd let this team ride and fix the issues in the offseason. I'm not sure any of their expiring contracts have value on the trade market. Edited by mvp 78

Certainly some do, especially, if we kick in some of the salary still owed.

Porcello would bring back a nice prospect or two.

If JBJ keep hitting well, he would bring something useful.

Holt, Nunez and Pearce, not much, even if we pay almost all of their remaining money owed.

This version of Porcello wouldn't bring much back for a 2 month rental.

If JBJ hits well, you don't move him.

Holt/Nunie/Pearce would bring us back MiLB fodder.

Could moving Barnes bring back something decent? Probably. I just think they'll still be too high up in the standings to dump players in July/August.

Even the ones who are disagreeing vehemently with the OP like yourself? :)

I'm a Sox fan, so absolutely I'm nuts. It's not over yet, far from it. Don't sleep on the Sox folks ...

No...... We are still competing for a Wildcard playoff spot, if we were a good 10 games out and getting worse then I would be in agreement...... But right now definitely not. We still have a shot at making playoffs and honestly..... If we play a team like Tampa or Texas or Oakland in a one game Wild Car spot I like our chances...... Winning the World Series and competing for a playoff spot in my opinion makes no sense to blow up the roster. Anything can happen come playoffs (it's making it that I am concerned about) We have beat a good Tampa team and a good Oakland team this year. We have struggled against Houston and the Yankees but that doesn't mean we should blow this team up. If not for that horrendous start to the season we would be battling for top spot in the division.

I was saying this assuming we become sellers, which I don't think will happen.

Trading guys who are doing very poorly brings back nothing.

Porcello and cash would bring back a nice prospect or two.

A JBJ at .700+ in July would bring back a nice prospect.

I AM NOT for trading anyone on the ML roster, unless someone wants Nunez.

Trading Porcello is silly in my opinion. Won't find another pitcher to take the 3rd spot with his consistency of going 6 plus innings, gives us a chance to win nearly everytime he pitches and likely won't cost that much. Depending I guess who we could get in place of him but I think it's a bad decision.

He's a FA after this year. Based on the faulty assumption that we'll be out of it and e sellers, trading Porcello makes sense- in this context ONLY.

Fair enough, but too early to tell.... We are 1 game out of a playoff spot right now, and I honestly don't see Texas keeping this play up all year. Sox aren't what they were last year but they will compete for a playoff spot and as I mentioned in another thread. A one game playoff match against Tampa, Oakland or Texas doesn't scare me what so ever. Houston or the Stanks.... Ok but I doubt that will happen.

I've said all along, we will be contenders and not sellers. I just responded to a post that said we had no FA to be of value to trade.

Last year JDM was supposedly the leader.

Cora has been saying what a great leader Xander has become, especially with Devers.

Also, thank goodness we didn't trade Xander for Machado. Not that it was ever close to reality, but it was talked about here a lot.

There were also poster bitching about Devers just a few weeks ago.

No place that I see to comment on the draft, but in some ways it might facilitate making alterations to the team, perhaps in 2020 but more likely further along.

Watching the draft is like watching grass grow. Very boring and in the Red Sox case I see the rules as particularly harmful. First ick at 43 aand 2nd at 69. No shot at top talent unless one thinks other teams are foolishly passing on such talent. Competitive balance still isn't being achieved, with a lot of clubs essentially packing it in by the AS break.

There is a draft thread.

Even if we fall to pieces we clearly aren't going to blow it up but if we are out of it (it may well be healthier or us long term to be out of it for one year) then we will trade Mitch and Porcello. We should get two okay/good prospects in that trade. I also trade JD as I'm convinced he opts out this year and we would get a very good prospect for him.

Re-sign JD in the summer and go with what we have with three prospects (one very good) we didn't have before the trades. If two out of those three make it we will be in a good place in a few years time.
