Correction:

Brandon Workman has pitched 5.0 innings and allowed one base runner via walk. He did not allow an earned run.

Matt Barnes has pitched 4.1 innings.

So our top 3 relievers Brasier, Workman, and Barnes have pitched 14.1 innings with a combined 4 hits, 2 walks, and no runs allowed. The next trio of Colton Brewer, Hector Velazquez, and Heath Hembree have pitched 18.1 innings and allowed 6 runs, which is still excellent. Thornburg is actually the least effective at this point, with a pedestrian 4.50 ERA.

Thanks for the correction.

For RP'ers, I personally, value WHIP more than ERA.

0.20 Workman

0.23 Barnes

0.80 Brasier

1.00 Thornburg

1.04 Velazquez (some as SP'er)

1.69 Hembree

1.85 Brewer

Totals as RP'ers only:

WHIP 1.21

ERA 3.61

(SP'ers: 1.87 WHIP/ 8.57 ERA)

I suggest you look up redacted. I exposed known pedophile redacted. I found evidence and presented it. I will now do the same to redacted aka redacted.

for what reason?

perhaps this would be best to share with authorities?

Its very odd that BillyWilliams was banned, logged in at 8 am, at 8:25 this account logs in and makes a post, around 8:50, both this account and BillyWilliams logged out at the same time.. Not suspicious at all.

Still don't understand why it took so long for him to be banned, but at least it's done for now. Glad that he was able to post himself into oblivion.

Either way Workman, Barnes, and Brasier end up roses. Good for them. And Velazquez is getting the spot starter / long man role nailed down as well, so that's 4 relievers thriving in their roles. More than the offense or starters can say...

Yes, indeed. I'm hopeful the pen games will not tax the arms too much.

I got to attend the Sat night/ Sunday day games in Phoenix and here are a few IMHO's :

1. Ryan Brasier looks to be the real deal we saw last year. Makes a great duo with Barnes, and doesn't seem to mind high leverage situations.

2. Not sure how Steve Pearce rehabbed and got ready after his calf strain, but he will be remembered fondly as the $6million+ mistake. Definitely not ready for prime time yet. Consider Adam Jones signed with the D'backs for $3mill, plus incentives and is hitting about .400 . Too bad he doesn't play 1B

3. Mookie Betts is still in a deep slump and looking bad at the plate. His defense is oddly unaggressive, other than the throw home to momentarily stop Brewer's self combustion in the 9th. Just to piss everyone off, no one would mistake the current Mookie for a Mike Trout or even Bryce Harper type contract.

4. JBJr has fully retreated to slump mode with no plate discipline whatever. 40% of bat contacts are on pitches outside the zone. The swing on a potential ball 4 late Saturday resulted in his 12th K in 38 AB's, with 1 rbi and 1 BB. I know he's been streaky before but how he lost his ST setup is a classic fail.

5. Nunez, Vazquez and Bradley, batting 7-8-9 in any order, is the gift of 3 determined outmakers for the opponents. Hitting .518 combined, all well below the Mendoza line.

6. Mitch Moreland is a pretty good 1st half hitter . If he could only get a full year without injury.

7. Seeing Price get spotted 3 runs and quickly give back 4 was no treat. Two of the hits were potentially catchable but Beni just missed and Mookie didn't want to dive , preserving himself for the big contract in 2021.

8. Bogaerts and Betts still take a lot of strikes during their AB's. Then look at the umpire.

9. JD Martinez is certainly one of the best hitters ( most consistent) in MLB.

10. Devers is another "fail to produce" after a good off season program and ST. at .225 with 40 AB's, 0 HR's and 0 rbi's . A few early errors rounds out the young players contribution so far. Hope Papi talks to him.

11. One overall issue is the LOB stats, lack of 2 out hits and power shots.

Strictly opinions based on the eyeball test but I will guess it takes until May 1 for this team to reach .500. Hopefully 6 games at Fenway will get the team moving better but hard to see right now. With 20 games remaining in April, they will need to go 13-7 to get over that .500 mark.

Pretty harsh, but I basically agree with all of it. These guys don't look like the 2018 team.

I would add that Barnes has a much better repertoire than Kimbrel has and is willing to do windows. Whether his fault or not, I still see Kimbrel as the ultimate prima dona--only pitch the 9th, without any baserunners, etc. Yesterday Barnes's 7th and 8th innings were terrific and just what the doctor ordered.

agree with Max. hard to argue any of these observations. btw - thank you for them.

For #7: i said it out loud to myself in realtime as it happened...2018 Beni makes that catch. 2019 Fat Beni is a step or two slower.

I don't think Adam Jones would be interested in playing here, so I'm not sure if it's a great comparison to Pearce. Also, it's April 8th.

For Mookie, it's still early.

For JBJ, he is what he is. He's never going to turn that offensive corner we want him to. All his value is in his glove. Whatever he provides with his bat is a bonus.

For 7-8-9, Laser show will be back to help fix this.

I'm not sure Beni is not diving to "save himself" for a big contract. That seems like the least fair point you're trying to make.

Devers is on pace for 103 runs. He has shown flashes of really good to great defense at 3b. He needs to work on his consistency as he has a tendency to turn a routine out into an adventure.

Again, just my opinions, but the comment on the "dive" related to Betts pulling up short. Beni did dive and almost came up with it.

If you guys see that dude whose posting about people being pedophiles and a moderator doesn't see it right away, can you please just ignore him and send me or Youk a PM? We usually get to them, but this time he posted in a random thread and he's hard to keep track of because the IP's on his accounts are never the same, and he has who the hell knows how many accounts.

I know how hard it is to resist the small sample sizes, but you're writing Pearce off after 7 plate appearances.

The Red Sox will make a decision about whether to activate Dustin Pedroia tomorrow morning, prior to the home opener.

On the road trip Betts and Bogaerts combined to take 47 middle-middle pitches. Both made improvement on swinging at these pitches last year.

Bogey: 58% -> 69%

Betts: 57% -> 61%

Britton and Ottavino fail to protect 3-1 lead as Astros win from behind 4-3. We all have our problems. This is baseball.

Friendly Fenway will not be so friendly based on the weather forecast, which indicates 45 degrees and light rain. The Sox will want to play as they get their rings today, but conditions will be tough.

... but in general, if his velocity stays in the upper 80s, he won't be able to live up to that title going forwards :(
