Here's I would do it.

Sale

Eovaldi

Porcello

Price, he would be my swingman, for 1st 2 games. He is still valuable here.

Yes, he should pitch. I can understand his performance against the Yankees. They've always given him agita. For me, though, this would be the last chance. He had a very good second half, so if he can't do it in the playoffs now, I don't think he will ever be able to.

Yes, but just one.

I'd go with Sale and Eovaldi in Fenway.

Porcello, Price and sale @ HOU

Finish with Eovaldi & Porcello at home, if needed.

this. but cora will go Sale - Price - Porc - Evo

He may go: Sale -Porcello -Price -Eovaldi

i would not be opposed to this. without looking at houstons splits i can envision going L-R-L-R is better than piggy backing. also, game 2 might very well be the most important game of this series so maybe go with the hot hand there.

Starting Price in game also allows us to use him in relief in game 1, 5, 6 or 7. He rates to be the best starter coming out from the pen, next to Sale, who we want to avoid doing, unless it's elimination time.

This. As much as I want to see Boston sweep Houston. They are too strong and this series will likely go the distance. Using Price out of the bullpen is much more realistic than using Sale.

Cora said it will be Price in Game 2.

I want to see Price pitch a great game!!!! I am excited for him to start actually.

Actually I would like to see Tingles and "my dog pissed on my glove" and a "Igot a nasty tweet last night" pitch under the roof in Houston than up here in what could be nasty conditions. Houston indoors give Price the best shot at winning IMO.

Say what you will about Price's lack of pitching in the postseason, but as someone else has mentioned, at least he owns it. He came back to the dugout and watched the rest of the game with his teammates. He made no excuses.

If you had two games to start and needed to choose from Price, Eovaldi and Rodriguez, how could anyone pick both Eovaldi and Rodriguez?

This is the right decision. Price will likely pitch very well.

I’m very confident of that.

As I said in other thread, Price just can’t pitch against NY.

Against HOU, I expect a solid Price just like the last time he pitched vs them.

Also, he will be rested.

I hope they keep Eavoldi as the third starter. That would mean that Porcello starts only one game, but Porcello can also pitch from the bullpen.

I was considering the idea of making Price the 4th guy in the rotation, behind the big 3 of Sale, Eavoldi, and Porcello. In this scenario, Price starts only one game in the ALCS. The problem with this idea: since the ALCS starts on Sat, Eavoldi would have to pitch on Sunday. I would rather give Eavoldi a few extra days of rest. By keeping Price as the #2, I'm also giving Porcello a little extra rest.

If Price sucks again, the Red Sox could start E-Rod in game 6 and move Price to the bullpen. With that said, I would make the move now. E-Rod would be my #2, followed by Eovaldi and Porcello; Price to the bullpen.

I think Price is our best starter for the pen, so I start him just one game (#4).

If Eovaldi starts Sunday, he does get one more day of rest. He started Monday, so his normal day would be Saturday.

I'm okay with starting Eovaldi game 3 and 7, but I'd prefer Porcello in that role. Game 3 is often the biggest game. Game 7, of course, is the biggest, if it gets there. Sale would go 1 and 5, both also huge games.

I don't think Porcello needs rest. He sat forever before the releif stint and only pitched 60 something pitches last night.

I just remembered Price's dog is named Astro. It's like destiny. He's due for a good one against them.

Lol I like that name for a dog actually.

You’d like to think he can overcome his woes, but 0-10 in the playoffs says it all. It’s not like he hasn’t had chances. We are paying him a ton of money, but he can come out of the pen. The Astros can really hit. I’d rather see E-Rod get a start rather than Price, because if he’s on Rodriquez can be dominant. Never mind I just looked at the game 2 staters and Price is in for game 2. I guess we’ll have to pray literally that he’s a different pitcher on Sunday.

He's either due, or he's doo doo. We'll find out Sunday night.

Against the yankees, he was over throwing his cutter/splitter and it lost movement and became a second fastball.

Without the change in speed and late break, he becomes very hittable. Against the Yankees, I think he was too amped up and he let his emotion affect his mechanics.

This is not the first time this has happened to him. But when he comes out of the pen, he seems to be riding on adrenaline and not emotion.

So why doesn’t Cora use him out of the pen? He could be a shut down 7th and/or 8th inning guy, who can get us to cardiac Kimbrel !

Baseball is simple game, it is only the people in it that complicate things.

Price fans have been hoping this for 10 straight starts now. Hopefully this is his moment...... again.
