I’ve been one of the biggest Price supporters on the board and was really hoping he can prove the haters wrong in game 2. And yet again he failed. Which brings me to the question..... Is he getting another start against Houston? I honestly would rather see anyone els start and he come out of the bullpen. I know with what we are paying him and how good he has been in regular season he will get a start. But the guy just gives us zero chance to win in the playoffs. As usual if he gets the start I will be hoping he can overcome his playoff disasters but if it’s anytning like game 2 against the Yanks we are toast.

Game 2

There could be value in this, if he has a stinker, the Fans will go nuts. He may want to Opt out.

Yank Fans giving him a cheer, when he was introduced, was unreal. I would want out.

You need 4 starters for 7 games, so it's him or ERod, who hasn't exactly been lights out since he came back and has been groomed for pen duty for the past month.

Yes he gets a start, probably 2. As Bellhorn said, short leash.

Price pitched pretty well against the Stros this year. Keeping him out of the rotation is kinda silly.

And Cora doesn't do silly.

That's the fan speaking. The player has $31M per for 3 more years; he's going nowhere.

Wishful thinking, he ain't opting out.......

ERod has gotten lit up by the Stros over his career too.

Will need to rely on that dreaded bullpen for much of the series. Seems like the gamethreads will be fun.

I'm more worried about Eovaldi against HOU. He got roughed up this year in the one time he faced them. 210 OPS+

Did he face them with Tampa? Or is this with Tampa?

Yes, but just one.

I'd go with Sale and Eovaldi in Fenway.

Porcello, Price and sale @ HOU

Finish with Eovaldi & Porcello at home, if needed.

This ^^^ Agree. Price pitched good out of BP last year too both times against Houston. Gives Cora flexibility if needed before his start.

Game 3 in Houston;

Sale

Eo

Price

Porcello

Sale

Some modifications possible depending on how these game go. But that is how I would stack it going into the series.

Is this for real? Price is easily our second best pitcher right now.

Regular season absolutely! Post season Porcello is. Porcello was fantastic last year against Houston, and was fantastic again last night vs Yankees. Price didn't even make it 2 innings. I'm all for giving him a shot but just keep a short leash on him like we did in game 2.

Big time. In fairness Houston lights up a lot of starters. They are such a powerhouse offensively with pretty much no weaknesses. Just like the Yankees series, if Sale and the rest of the starters can go 5 innings or 6 and keep it manageable I'll be happy. Of course I would prefer 7 or 8 but hey.

I think a rotation of Sale, Eovaldi, Price and Porcello might work, with Cora ready with a quick hook if anybody falters. Hope Kimbrell can get it together for the ALCS. His ALDS ERA must be about 10.0.
