If we win game 1 i will feel good about this series. Have to win game 1 and we have to match their pitching.

We have very good players and have an aggressive style of play thanks to Cora. We do need to get off to a good start but that could also be said of the Astros. Looking forward to a competitive ALCS.

I do think the Astros have a better rotation, on paper, but winning game 1 is huge. Sale going in game 5 is also very helpful. There are no guarantees, but winning game 1 & 5 are key games to win. That would leav us needing to win just 2 of the remaining 5 games vs "better starters". That seems doable.

I'm confident we can and will win, but I'm not kidding myself. The Astros are solid. They feild well, hit well and pitch very well, but so do we.

Yeah it's very much anyone's at this point. I just think the Astros are the strongest of the 4 teams left. It's going to be such a great series.

I believe the win will happen if Price pitches like you think, but I don't have your faith ha!

I agree that the Astros are the strongest of the 4 teams remaining. I don't think it's by a huge margin over the Sox though.

As far as Price pitching well, maybe it's more wishful thinking than anything else, but he is such a good pitcher that it surprises me that he hasn't pitched well in the postseason. He's due. Keep the faith!

Should be a great series. Both teams are good.

Here's how I feel about the Astros, last year they won 101 games with mostly a strong Offense. This year a lot of injuries with them through out the year, in their Line-up. And they won more, then year before.

That tells me their Pitching is much more improved, and that is huge.

What I hope for they don't get hot with the bats, at the right time, with this Pitching. Line-up hits like 2017, and Pitches like this year, its going to be a battle.

BTW - DoDamage was taken from a Brian Cashman quote earlier this season when he said the NYY were the only team to do damage to the Red Sox. ahahahahahaha. thanks Brian!

Pretty darn good synopsis. More than that, a recipe for success. You put a lot of trust in Sale, but, my goodness, that is one determined and very professional pitcher. He loves that upper 90's fast ball, but against the Yankees he showed he can do well without it. Plus you recognize the Astros are solid.

Their weakness last year was the bullpen. It's better this season...

back to back to back to back

One year we made back to back to... T shirts for our college baseball club after going to the CWS twice in a row. We were eliminated in the regionals the following season. Being confident is good, being cocky isnt

if there is one sport you should never make back to back t-shirts for, it's baseball

Glad you're still here. Sorry about the ALDS because I still think the Yankees had a heckuva team this year--just not, in this one series, the best rotation. The NY Times postmortem picked team batting average (.249) as the culprit and said that the Sox pitchers tried very hard to keep the Yankees hits "in the park," which is actually what happened in the two home losses--zero dingers in games 3 and 4. The Yankees have that great bullpen, but they couldn't overcome the damage done to the rotation in games 1, 3, and 4 when they collectively gave up 14 runs in 8 innings.

Which school was yours? CWS two years running is pretty darn good. It's also, I think, a pretty darn good tournament--including the regionals--but gets little coverage (unlike the LLWS).

We need sale to bounce back. He was awful against the stros last season in game 1. I am sure he has some motivation.

Do you think his poor start in game one last year was due to poor motivation?

Obviously referring to the idea that people can be motivated by being pissed off about having failed the last time...

You're feeding the troll, Bell. Feeding the troll......

Not quite there, dewdrop.

I just don't buy into his pissed off motivation theory........

What about my "JD Martinez is motivated to crush the team that released him" theory?

That insinuates that he would be less motivated against the Guardians.

I don't buy it.

It had a lot more to do with fatigue than motivation. That said, I am sure he knows what happened last year and will be resolute in making up for it. Call it motivation or whatever you like.
