When you lose 16-1, it does tend to obliterate any dumb managerial moves. Doesn't mean they weren't there though.

Completely agree. But in general terms I think most managers are evaluated on wins and losses and whether those exceed or fall short of what was reasonably (or unreasonably) expected. Specifically, if Boone had made better moves last night, the score might well have been closer, but a loss was a pretty sure thing. Severino stunk. Eovaldi was very much on his game. And once again the vaunted Yankees bullpen could not have turned the tide. See game 1 when they did 6 scoreless innings and the Yankees still lost.

Going into this ALDS was I was sure the Yankee bullpen would make a difference because theirs is so much better than ours. But so far it hasn't. Granted, a small sample size, but that's the nature of the playoffs.

Whata game last night. Lets finish them!

Porcello and CC are announced for tonight's game.

Porcello is 2.15 ERA vs NY in the last 5 games, and 194/261/333/594 against their current line-up.

Very encouraging numbers.

A win tonight would mean having Sale against the Astros for the first game in the ALCS.

Once again, good vibes only. We've got this folks!

Go Sox!

For the record: well done on the game thread last night. You were the right guy.

I'd have sat Nunez. I'd also rather have Holt vs a lefty than Kinsler. Holt actually has a slightly better OPS vs lefties.

.708 vs LHPs

.704 vs RHPs

(Kinsler is .446 vs LHPs this year but .851 career.)

I would not sit JBJ in Yankee Stadium.

Since we are second guessing Cora. I think Nunez and Kinsler are both over the hill. Holt especially deserves 2b tonight. I also question Vazquez in for Leon because Porcello has pitched well (ERA 2.25) in 24 innings against the Yankees this year and I think Leon caught all 24 innings.

Neither Holt nor Devers hs been the same hitter the past month that they were earlie in the year. This lefty-righty ******** is over done. FACT, Cora: Your hottest hitter for the past 3 ir 4 weeks has bee Holt and Devers, in that order. If Kinsler an Nunez don't come with 4 hits berween them, than you've made another dumb call.

Thanks my friend, I think all our mojos were combined yesterday to beat the Yankees. Today we will win again :)

I absolutely think Holt should be in there someplace. 2nd or 3rd are the likely choices, especially since Cora has chosen Vaz, Holt's hit and run partner to catch. What the heck is that about? There is little sense to having Vaz in the lineup without Holt IMO. If Holt is out, let Sandy catch and bat RHed. Vaz is driving me nuts with his crazy targets behind the plate in this ballpark. Just asking to see one of those doink jobs going over the RF wall.

Holt .292 AVERAGE .395 OBP vs LHP

Will usually put up a good at bat, something Nunez and Kinsler are incapable of doing. He should be playing.

Holt is also a career better hitter vs LHPs (close), so throw out the lefty-righty thing on this one.

Let's do this!!

Rare poster and generally very negative... thought we could get a win at the Stadium, though, and I felt even more confident in beating Sabathia. So think things are looking pretty damn good.

Sabathia is one of the few Yankees I like... he's a gamer and a good teammate, sort of old school or whatever. That said, he is basically a junkballer at this point in his career, and the Sox need to figure this fat f*** out. Let's hope the last game against him meant that they have.

So basically you have nothing but respect ... for that fat f***. Lol

Kinsler could have come home from 3rd on the first WP at the end of last night's game. But he simply refused to move. Then the 2nd wild pitch was just too much for Kinsler to cover. He literally walked home on that one. What else was he going to do. But he was obviously not trying to give the Yankees any incentive to think the Sox were rubbing their noses in it. Conversely, Holt is wagging his dingdong from 3rd base when he tripled and going ga-ga over a HR hit off the backup Catcher. The waggle from 3rd was probably fine. But the ga-ga over cycle v backup catcher heaped atop it probably even got under Cora's skin. I fully expected to see Holt plunked early in this game in any situation where he could be plunked without damage to the Yankees.

Notice how Cora handled idiot ERod who would not even cover 1st in the 7th inning of post season game2. Erod got to pitch the 9th inning of ultimate garbage time, up 16-1. Thats your reward Eddie. So its obvious Cora watches this stuff.

The triple was still very early in the game. He was actually subdued trotting for the HR. No bat flip. Just ran the bases. Haven’t seen any other complaints about it.
