I was about 50-50.

My heart literally stopped.

Yeah it was the same with Kinsler's fly out early for me, I gave both a 50/50.

Agree with the early post that CC and Stanton were really terrible last night when it mattered the most.

CC crying like a bitch. Complaining about umpiring. You lost the game and it wasn't because of umpiring. What an ass

One thing the initials 'CC' don't represent is "Class Cow."

OTOH, there's "Crying Cow", "Complaining Cow." and "Clown Cow."

I've been shocked by many balls coming off hitters' bats and going over the fence. I thought Kinsler's was more than 50-50.

Yeah that sure was an exciting way for the series to end, I woke my wife up for sure on that final out. I have no idea why Kimbrell throws so many breaking balls, that 9th inning was torture. But as Mookie says it's what makes this game so much fun.

For the first 3 hours of the game I much prefer football to baseball. But the 9th inning of a deciding playoff game provides excitement and drama that is rarely matched in other sports.

Watched the game replay last night. Even though I knew the outcome, the ninth inning made me very anxious. Was Kimbrel drunk? He was all over the place. Hope he pitches better in the next series.

I did. Until the last second when Beny was settled under it, I feared that it would be a first row HR.

I thought it was a lazy fly ball. To me it look like it kept carrying. Didn't seem like he hit it that hard. The announcers certainly weren't making a big deal over it

yeah man. i thought beni was tracking it to time his leap to try and rob one. game of inches.....

Is it necessary to celebrate every time a post season birth is clinched, followed by division/wild card win, division series win, LCS and world series? No other pro sports team do this and to me there shouldn't be any celebration unless you win it all.

i think it is because baseball is such a grind. and there is always at least 1 day off in between the end of 1 series and the start of the next. plus...it is f***ing awesome that we popped champagne in yankees stadium. again.

The popping of the champagne after the WC play in game was pretty ridiculous. I'd save the goggles for a WS win.

I could possibly see popping the champagne after winning the LCS and of course the WS. Any other time is just silly to me.

Unless maybe you are a team that has never done it before, but for the Yanks and the sox it should be "been there, done that".

Winning a play in game should be celebrated with Fresca.

I apologize in advance for the string of binge posts that are likely to follow, but my excitement level is high and that makes me yappy! And happy!

Plus, there are 78 pages of game thread posts to reply to!

Might I add, YEAH BABY!!!

Kimmi, point being it's not rocket science to play Holt, it favors the team to play Holt at 2b or 3b

And Cora's line up changes worked out again. It's uncanny how he seems to have the magic touch with his moves.

Nunez, Holt, and Vazquez all with key hits. Not to mention the great defensive play by Nunez and Pearce to end the game.

Cora is 100% in tune with what's going on. In Cora we trust!

I really don't know how I feel about this Sale move, if we blow this game, this could be a f*** up of epic proportions, who the hell starts game 5 if that happens? Price?

Obviously, it's easy to say in hindsight, but I liked this move when it was happening. Even though it was not an elimination game for us, my philosophy in these short series is 'all hands on deck'.

Besides, one of the broadcasters said that Sale would still be able to start Game 5, if needed.

He’s managed like a rookie a lot in this series.

No way. Cora knows what he's doing.

I'm not saying that I agreed with every move he made, like pulling Porcello after 5 innings, but the dude knows what he's doing.

No rookie managing going on in this series, except by Boone.

I really hate seeing players I like, at the end of their careeers, playing for the Yankees. IE: Ichiro, and now McCutchen.

Isn't that the truth?

Sale to close this out

I had a strange feeling that Kimbrel was going to come in, start walking batters, and make things really interesting in the 9th. I was really hoping Sale would come back out for the 9th, but I knew that there was 0% chance of that happening, unless Kimbrel was injured.

It's kind of ironic that we always talk about the bridge to Kimbrel being so weak. Barnes, Brasier, and Sale were a perfect 9 up and 9 down, and Kimbrel is the one who semi-implodes.

This needs to be stated....no matter what happens with this game Porc had a helluva good start tonight. He deserves props.

If i live through this, i should tell my doctor to forget about the stress test.

The game was nerve wracking enough from the 1st inning. The 9th inning was way, way, way too much drama. About did me in. LOL If the Sox had blown that game, I would not have been able to sleep last night.

Kimbrel is no Koji when it comes to 1-2-3 innings.

That said, he got the job done. All's well that ends well.

Can this at least put to bed the idea that a team doesn't need a good closer????

Quit with the strawman arguments. No one ever said that a team doesn't need a good closer.

But, this should at least put to bed the idea that we need to sign Kimbrel to a huge contract.

Nunez with a tremendous play!

Needless to say, that play was huge!

Great stretch by Pearce on the other end.

Just imagine if Pearce had been pulled off the bag, or even worse, that throw went into the dugout...
