is it too late to get Espinoza back?

Pom was broken when we traded for him.

he is still broken.

thanks DD!

Espinoza is broken too. At least Pom gave us one good run in 2017. Espinoza may never get that.

Approx 300 years of observance/coaching vs a year and a 1/3 of coaching/managing for Cora?

Please...

LOL Good one.

The trade for Pom needed to be done at the time it was done.

Would Trading Sale actually get us a ring faster than keeping him ? ? I would like to know what package would it take ? Thus team is not winning a World Series way to many holes both at starter and Relief along with a rookie 3b who is finding his way a banged up 2b who is on his last legs ...who would you go after ?This is clearly a one and done Wildcard team .

Trade Sale? You’re percentage points down in the division, second best record in baseball and you want to deal your ace and tank? That’s really dumb. You’ve got a window. You are right inside of it. You maximize it then rebuild. With HanRam out of the picture, you can keep Kimbrel. This extends your window through next year. Your team is good enough to win it all. Let the chips fall at this point

I seriously can't believe some of the s*** that is actually suggested on here..

Is it fantasy sports? or the idiocy of the NBA lottery system that has now made armchair fans believe that the primary goal of every team should be to tank? even, say, when your team has the best record in the league.

The Sox should have signed him to a minor league deal way back when.

He was worth the shot.

Agree. The problem was his name. If he changed his name to Joe Schmoe the Sox (or at least the fans) would have welcomed him.

Sale has been very good, but he has not been the dominant ace, the stopper, that we expect him to be. His season reminds me a lot of Price's first season with us, very good, but not as good as what we expected. Maybe our expectations are too high? Last night is the type of game that I expect to win with Sale on the mound.

I am disappointed in his performance so far this season.

ahah... Imagine that. And he wore a big fake mustache. One of the first threads made would be "Is Schmoe actually Buchholtz".

Far be it from me to defend a Sox player, but are you kidding? Sale has a sub 1 WHIP, 12+K/9IP pitcher this year. His ERA is now 0.1 higher than it was last year and that’s with him having his two worst starts skewing the sample size. Sale had been a 4.9-6.1 WAR guy nearly every year in chicago. Last yr, he was at 7.7. This year, he’s on pace for 6-6.5. He is not your problem

Classic Natick to NC. I hope YOTN is keeping a trophy case of some of these brilliant insights you have.

Nowhere did I say that Sale was our problem.

He has been a disappointment.

Not enough to lose any sleep over, though.

How? He started the year with 9 of 11 quality starts. The two games he didn't QS in he went 5IP each time and allow 2 or less ER. Of those 11 starts, he allowed 1 or 0ER 7 times. His ERA was at 2.17 after that time. He struggled the last 2 starts, allowing 10ER in 10.1IP. He also happened to face the #3 and #4 offenses in baseball. It happens. If I had Chris Sale on my team, I would be very happy with his performance to date and if he produced the exact same ERA, WHIP, K and BB per 9IP numbers, I would be ecstatic. I wonder sometimes if you guys expect him to be Pedro circa 1999. That isn't happening again. Sale is a bona fide ace who will be top 5 in CY again this year.

The only thing I have noticed about Sale since he has been here is that if he is not blowing hitters away, his confidence in himself seems to diminish so much so that it effects his game. He does not appear to let a bad call effect him, an error by a teammate, any of that sort of stuff. But so much of his makeup is built around complete dominance that just plain dominance seems to bug him. For example, I always thought this whole thing of not shaking off anything was BS. "Doesn't matter what pitch is called, I am going to dominate with it". My ass.

Anyway its his own confidence in himself that seems too easily shaken to me. He is a great pitcher and he does not have to dominate every hitter completely to prove that...not to me anyway. He does seem to need it to prove it to himself. You can see the confidence leaking out of him just because he is not blowing hitters completely away. Its between his ears, which is not unusual for the modern day pitcher anyway.

With respect to Chris Sale, it is always disappointing when the guy you expect to never lose struggles a bit. I like him anytime against anyone at anytime during the season.

I wonder who suggested that ? Hmmmmm ...Sale could bring a haul still .I would start making those plans first place by a half game or not...this is not a guy who will sack up at playoff time .Erod ? Porcello ? price ?Wright ? .....we are in deep dooo dooo.oh and Pedey is cooked ...Nuney and Brock won't cut it .

Roenis Elias, who made one start for the 2016 Red Sox and seven starts for Pawtucket the following year, picked up a win Friday in relief for the Seattle Mariners:

Last post this weekend ....I love the Redsox not 1 or 2 players .....second I won't ever blow sunshine up your ass when this team is a mirage ....facts .....Kelly and Barnes are in fact s***** pitchers regardless of what the numbers say fact Sandy Leon And Vaz are s***** ball players fact Dustin Pedroia is not who he was 10 years ago he is a banged up player who will never be the same after that horrible surgery fact Losing John Leater screwed this team for years fact Chris Sale is a tooth pick and throws a frisbee that has become easy to hit more often than the past fact Erod is schizophrenic with his talent fact David Price doesn't have the makeup of a champion fact 90 percent of this board has become sunshine and rainbows in regards to these players above ...fact they need to figure out JBJ ,Devers ,Vaz and Nuney quickly ...
